The event organized by the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh, has attracted over 3,000 participants. Also, this activity is a response to the Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2018.
Attending at the Fun Run Day were Mr. Vuong Bich Thang, the Director of Vietnam Sports Administration, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, the Chairman of People’s Committee of Bac Ninh Province, the Secretary of OCA President Office, Mr. Lucky Iskandar Mirza, Representative of ASIAD 2018’s Organization Committee, etc.
The Fun Run Day took place solemnly and attracted over 3,000 residents from Bac Ninh province coming from different social backgrounds, such as students, elders, the armed forces, youth union members, staffs of Herbalife Co., Ltd, professional athletes. According to OCA’s representatives, Vietnam has set a new record with 3000 attendants, compared to eight countries previously held Fun Run.

The Asian Games Fun Run is one of OCA’s social sports development and promotion activities. This year, OCA is expected to host Fun Run Day in 30 countries and territories in Asia. The uniqueness of this program is that, together with the sport activities, it can bring joy and excitement to fun runners; particularly, children can also have the opportunity to learn more about the activities of the Asian Olympic Movement, ASIAD 18’s competition program.
In response to preparations for the 2018 Asian Games, OCA is expected to hold about 31 runs. Vietnam is the ninth country in this program. After Vietnam, Fun Run Day will be held in Saudi Arabia.
In his speech at the Fun Run, Mr. Lucky Iskandar Mirza, the representative of the ASIAD 2018’s Organization Committee stressed that our preparations have been almost finished. “Our preparations for the 18th Asian Games have reached the final stage,” he said. It is reported that Indonesia has successfully held the sport tournaments before the 2018 Asian Games with the participation of more than 800 athletes from 18 countries and territories to assess the preparation and identification of issues that need to be adjusted for the better.
Regarding to the significance of the Fun Run, Mr. Tran Van Manh, the Secretary General of the Vietnam Olympic Committee quoted: “This program will help expand the knowledge about sport and the Olympic Movement through the exciting and cultural activities for children – thereby encouraging them to participate more in physical exercise.”
The Asian Games Fun Run is also held in conjunction with the “Khoe de lap nghiep va giu nuoc (Healthy to set up own business and protect the country)” Marathon Tournament of the 22nd Bac Ninh Newspaper Cup, which is part of the Bac Ninh Sports Festival, with 4 contents including women 2.5km and men 3km in also individual and group category.
