“Awakening traditions” through the designing of souvenirs of Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam

Entries are designs of creative and artistic souvenirs and gifts characterizing the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam relic, made from environmentally friendly materials and with high applicability. The results of the competition will be conducted by the collaboration of the Center for Scientific and Cultural Activities of the Temple of Literature – Quoc Tu Giam, the Organizing Committee of Vietnam Design Week and the author to make the product for use.

The Designed by Vietnam competition in 2021 has the theme “Awakening Traditions” in 05 areas: Communication design, Living design, Decor & Object design, Clothing design, and Public design. The competition is organized by the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in collaboration with Ashui.com, ConsMedia Corporation and many professional partners.

The designs for the competition must show the characteristics and traditional values of Vietnam; Use traditional, indigenous materials (Encourage designs that apply or evolve from traditional crafts, including techniques, materials and aesthetics)

Each author can participate in up to 5 designs, which are sketches or photographs of the work. Entries must be original and made by the author and have not previously participated in any creativity and design competitions. The deadline to receive application documents is August 31, 2021, at the email address designedbyvietnam@gmail.com.

The competition preliminary round is expected to take place in September and October 2021. At the Preliminary Round, the Board of examiners will select about 20 designs for the final round and coordinate with the author to complete the design or implement the actual sample product (if any). At the same time, 20 designs selected for the final round will participate in online voting.

The final round of the Competition (expected to take place from November 15 to November 21, 2021) includes display and awarding activities during Vietnam Design Week 2021 held in Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City.

The winning designs can be co-produced into products for use in life with the copyright belonging to the author, and the exploitation right for 2 years belongs to the Competition Organizing Committee.
