Speaking at the closing ceremony of the contest, Mr. Pham Quoc Hung, Director of the Library Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism – Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest said that after 9 months of launching and deploying, despite being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, organizers received more than 870,000 entries by students from nearly 6,900 educational institutions such as elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, universities and academies. The contest inspired the creativity and rich imagination of pupils and students. Most of the submissions are rich in content with improved quality. Many are so interesting and impressive in English-Vietnamese bilingual format. A number of touching stories or interesting books were disclosed, several works of scientific and artistic value were passed on to friends and the community by the contestants.

A series of stories and poems were written to affirm the role, importance and influence of books and reading culture on families, schools, residential areas, communities and society. Numerous concrete and feasible plans and measures, including a plan to develop a reading culture for the community to adapt to the Covid-19 pandemic such as building a channel to introduce and share good books, have been developed.

It can be seen through the contest entries that reading culture has a great impact on the formation of students’ intelligence, perception and personality. Kindness, forgiveness, and concern for others have been formed and nurtured from reading books. Some pupils and students have silently become “ambassadors” of reading culture who may bring books and love of books to the disadvantaged in the social community.

At the ceremony, the contest organizers awarded collective prizes; 3 ambassador prizes, 8 first prizes, 16 second prizes, 52 third prizes, more than 200 consolation prizes and some thematic prizes for the best entries. Due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, many contestants could not attend the award ceremony of this Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2021
