One of the outstanding results of Cau Giay District is that investment in sports equipment and training in the area is focused. In 2018, the District invested in upgrading the District Sports Center with a total investment of VND 8,137 million; built 3 new gymnasiums in schools; installed amusement and outdoor sports areas in 6 schools to serve for physical education with a total cost of VND 1,600 million; installed 800 outdoor sports equipment for 78 sites in 8 wards with a total cost of over VND 10,576 million. Thanks to the concerns of all levels, Cau Giay District currently has synchronous and modern facilities to practice and compete in sports. At present, the District has 1 Sports Center; 87 playgrounds and sports grounds; culture – sports centers and community playground in 8/8 wards; football fields in 5/8 wards; standard sports areas in all schools; and swimming-pools in 6 schools.

Sports facilities to meet the people’s needs are one of the important conditions to help strongly develop mass movements in sports and exercises of Cau Giay District, attract all the local people to participate in sports. In the morning and evening, we can see very lively and strong sports movement in the District. All the people take part in walking, kicking shuttle cocks, playing soccer, playing table tennis, using sports equipment conveniently installed in the public areas. Currently, Cau Giay District has 40.5% of the people practicing sports; 32% of the families regularly practicing sports; and 99.5% of the police and army soldiers regularly practicing sports. In the district, many sports clubs are established and maintain regular activities to become a destination and a healthy culture of the local people. The whole district currently has 43 sports clubs under the wards’ management with operation decision and regulations and a mass of the local people to regularly practice sports. Strong clubs have continued to be strengthened and promoted effectively such as volleyball clubs, football, taekwondo, judo, vovinam, national martial arts, badminton and table tennis.
In order to encourage the mass movement in sports and exercises and discover talents for the district’s team to participate in city level competitions, Cau Giay District organized 16 district-level sports competitions and 3 district-level sports events; the District Center of Culture – Information and Sports cooperated with relevant departments in organizing 12 sports competitions for students, organized Culture – Sports Festival for officials and employees of the district’s agencies and units; the District directed the wards and the schools to organize tournaments and create vibrant and healthy sports movements for the units and the people, such as the District’s Culture – Sports Festival, Hanoi Moi Newspaper Race, Olympic Running Day for public health, Mini Football League and Sports Festival for Education and Training Sector … Through tournaments, Cau Giay District has been established and trained 28 teams to participate in the city-level competitions and 5 teams participated in the national competitions. The District’s athletes have played their best, won 418 medals of all kinds, including 312 medals (100 gold medals, 96 silver medals and 116 bronze medals) at city level, and 106 medals ( 36 gold medals, 39 silver medals and 31 bronze medals) at national level.
Cau Giay District successfully organized badminton and sword fighting in the framework of the the 8th National Games.
From early 2019 to now, the wards have organized many sports competitions to celebrate the Party and Xuan Ky Hoi to attract a large number of the people to attend and cheer and create a joyful and exciting atmosphere during the Lunar New Year.
Along with that, activities of inspection and supervision of sports service establishments are also interested in Cau Giay District. The District has established an interdisciplinary team to check sports service activities and instructed such establishments for strictly complying with the laws. Through inspection work, the District People’s Committee has penalized 2 establishments for administrative violations.
In particular, in 2018, Cau Giay District cooperated in organizing the 8th National Games. The district successfully completed the task of preparing facilities and successfully organized 2 sports subjects: Badminton and sword fighting. During the 16 days of competition, the District Sports Center welcomed 357 athletes from 29 sports teams nationwide.
Awarding the units recognized as advanced units in sports by Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports
Results achieved in sports movement of Cau Giay District in 2018 are that 26 units were recognized as the excellent advanced units in sports by Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; the Emulation – Commendation Council of the District recognized 19 the excellent advanced schools in sports and 10 advanced schools in sports; and 40 agencies and People’s Committees of the wards and schools with excellent achievements in sports in 2018 were commended and rewarded.
