On the morning of 27th May, at the memorial relic of King Le Thai to (Nam Phong temple” by Hoan Kiem lake, Hoan Kiem district Party Committee, People’s Council and People’ Committee solemly organized a festival to commorate the 590th anniversary of King Le Thai To’s enthronement (1428-2018).
Reappearing King Le Thai To’s enthronement
Attending the opening ceremony were Mrs Ngo Thi Thanh Hang – Central Party member, Deputy Permanent Head of the Municipal Party Committee; Mr. Luu Minh Tri – Chairman of the Association of Cultural Heritage of Thang Long – Ha Noi; Mr. Le Van Cang – Chairman of Le Tree Family Council of viet Nam; Mr. Truong Minh Tien – Deputy Director of Ha Noi Department of Culture and sports; Mr. Hoang Cong Khoi – the Provincial Party Committee member, Head of Hoan Kiem district Party Committee.
On 15th April 1428 (the year of monkey), Le Loi was crowned King at Kinh Thien palace, Dong Quan citadel (nowaday called Ha Noi), proclaiming himself emperor as Thuan Thien, naming the country as Dai Viet, declaring its manifesto of independence. Throughout his ruling time, he had laid down the firm foundation for a dynasty and prosperous independence of Dai viet nation. The festival in commeoration of 590th Anniversary of King Le Thai To’s enthronement was an opportunity to momorize and pay tributes to national hero Le loi’s great exploits who had fought and swept away the enemy, gaining back the beautiful country to Dai Viet people; honouring and bringing into play the intangible and tangible cultural values, religions and fine folk traditions of the country, unique historical, cultural values and architectural arts of King Le Thai To’s memorial relic attached to the development of Thang Long – Ha Noi; At the same time, propagandizing , educating among the public on the patriotic tradition and national morality of “Drinking water one should remember its sources” or “Be grateful to one’s benefactor”.

The festival to commorate the 590th anniversary of King Le Thai To’s enthronement (1428-2018) took place in one day of May 27, 2018 (13rd April of the Dog lunar year ), with a number of actiities, namely The traditional sedan carrying ceremony and public parade around Hoan Kiem lake; Thurifying ceremony at King Le monument and Nam Huong temple; an abstract of the play depicting King Le Thai To’s enthronement; traditional art performance and folk games; display of folk paintings and Chinese characters writings,..
Festival parades
Sword lake is attached with the legend as “King Le returned precious sword”, whereby King Le’s monument has been built in conjuntion with Nam Huong temple, which has become an old and serene complex of cultural and historical relics, with the outstanding traditional cultural features preserved in the heart of the Capital, considered as being the communal belief cultural centre of unique values. “King Le Thai To’ memorial work” and “Historical cultural relic of Nam Huong temple” have been classified by the State as National historical cultural relic so as to be kept for future generations.
