Establishment of the National Steering Committee to organize SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11

 Hà Hanoi is the main venue for SEA Games 31.

The members of the Steering Committee are Mr. Le Khanh Hai, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Le Hoai Trung, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; the Mr. Nguyen Tan Cuong, the Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Luong Tam Quang, the Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Tran Van Hieu, the Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment; Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, the Deputy Minister of Health; Mr. Le Anh Tuan, the Deputy Minister of Transport; Mr. Nguyen Huu Do, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Mr. Hoang Vinh Bao, the Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Mr. Le Quang Hung, the Deputy Minister of Construction; Mr. Bui Quang Huy, Bui Quang Huy, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee cum the President of Vietnam Student Association; Mr. Vuong Bich Thang, the Director of General Department of Sports; Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of National Administration of Tourism of Vietnam; Mr. Ngo Van Quy, the Vice Chairman of Hanoi City People’s Committee; Mr. Dinh Dac Vinh, the Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television; Mr. Ngo Minh Hien, the Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam.
The Steering Committee is responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in directing, administering and coordinating among the concerned ministries, branches and localities in preparing and organizing SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11; urging the implementation as directed by the Prime Minister; making specific decisions on the scale, time and venue for SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 (other than Hanoi, the main venue); making a decision on setting up the Organizing Committee of SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 at the central level, headed by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Steering Committee is also responsible for directing the relevant ministries, branches and localities, the Organizing Committee of SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 to organize Festivals following the regulations of the Southeast Asian Sports Federation, the Federation Sports for people with disabilities in Southeast Asia and Vietnam’s laws.
The members of the Steering Committee work on a basis of concurrent position. The Chairman of the Steering Committee takes responsibility to the Prime Minister and assigns specific tasks to members of the Steering Committee under the assigned functions and tasks. The Chairman of the Steering Committee issues the Operating Regulation of the Steering Committee.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the standing body of the Steering Committee, being responsible for ensuring the operating conditions of the Steering Committee, presiding over the completion, and approving the Master Plan for preparing and organizing SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 based on the opinion of the Steering Committee.
The Steering Committee will dissolve itself after completing the task of preparing and organizing SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11.

 Hanoi City will successfully hold a Festival.

The Prime Minister previously signed the Decision No. 1616/QD-TTg on organizing SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 in Vietnam in 2021. Accordingly, there will be 11 countries in Southeast Asia participating in the two Festivals.
It is expected to have 36 subjects for SEA Games 31 (within the official Olympic competition program, Asiad accounting for about two-thirds of the total of subjects; countries in the region may propose some other subjects), and 14 subjects for ASEAN Para Games 11 as determined by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and notified to the Steering Committee for decision.
SEA Games 31 is expected to be held at the end of November and early December 2021; ASEAN Para Games 11 is expected to be held at the end of December 2021.
