Recently, the producer of the film Vietnamese Mothers – the Viet belief of Worship of Mother Goddesses, has had a press conference to introduce the project.
The practice of Worship of Mother Goddesses is one of twelve intangible cultural heritages and more than 20 cultural and natural heritages of humanity recognized in Vietnam by UNESCO. However, this belief is inadequate, which is the disguise in ritual practice and commercialization.
In order to preserve, promote and publicize the value of the Worship of Mother Goddesses, the Nhat Nguyet Cultural Company Limited and An Vien Television channel have made a series of 108 episodes called Vietnamese Mothers. The whole film is designed to bring to the public the most general view, the standard information on beliefs, practices of beliefs, beauty and characteristics of the Worship of Mother Goddesses.
The Worship of Mother Goddesses of the Vietnamese is indigenous belief, integrates various forms of folklore such as music, language, folk knowledge, singing, dancing, traditional crafts, costume and together with the art of decorating, architecture, cuisine, etc. in a perfect unity, in which the “stage” factor closely associated with spiritual elements, reflecting the thinking and perception of nature, society of the community. This belief preserves traditional values such as “When drinking water, think of its source”, also is renewed, integrated new cultural values, to adapt to modern living conditions, so it has high attractiveness for everyone, especially the followers of the belief of three palaces, and four palaces.
At the press conference, Ms. Dam Lan, the Director of Nhat Nguyet Cultural Co., Ltd, said that Vietnamese Mothers is produced four parts which include four particular themes and cannot be separated, such as
Part 1 introduces an overview of the Worship of Mother Goddesses of the Vietnamese: In this section, the main content will focus on the answer the question such as when do we start worshiping gods?, what foundations are based on, etc. Who area national heroes, from the headwater to delta region, during the ancient Vietnamese process, what is the history of them? Which divine victories are handed down, archaeological evidence, ancient writings and books, how will be reflected in the most clear in the film. Through this part, the audience can ask questions such as it is true that Vietnam has no guidance religion with such heroic history of the nation? Part 1 will be finished to the end of the 16th century when the leader of Worship of Mother Goddesses appears and the belief of the worship of three palaces and four palaces is formed in the most complete and clearest.
Part 2: Four palaces: What is Four palaces and what role does Four palaces play in the Worship of Mother Goddesses, etc.
Part 3: The saints in the Four palaces and the saints are worshiped in the Four palaces: In this section, the following issues will be detailed and concrete: Who are the saints in history; What are their stories and backgrounds? Where are the main temples and expected temples? And How is their belief practice practiced, etc.
Part 4: The ancient and current worship of Mother Goddesses: How does the main content focus on the practice of belief ? How is the belief practiced today? What are things needed to be preserved and promoted to be more suitable and more beautiful, more perfect, etc.
Worship of Mother Goddesses – the Vietnamese‘s folk belief
Ms. Dam Lan also said that in order to do this film series, in addition to collection of documents and materials in all regions of the country with the support of professional advisors, film crews also people in charge of looking after the worshipping in and out of the country, who also kept the information, scripts, documents and identity of worship of Mother Goddesses to support and help.
Ms. Dam Lan further said, Vietnamese Mothers does not hope to solve the outstanding problems of the worship of Mother Goddesses, but 108 episodes will provide the community with the most basic information, cultural values, the great spiritual values that the worship of Mother Goddesses brings to the Vietnamese as well as the introduces the goodness and beauty of a cultural heritage to international friends.
The film is filmed and expected to open in Mau Tuat Tet holidays.
