The exhibition displays 29 works of different sizes and materials. “Freshness” has youthful and modern compositions of author Tran Ho Lam or abstract paintings by artist Do Khac Dao, the beauty of “Thi No in the @ era” of painter Nguyen Vinh Thinh, or the delicate lacquer works of painter Can Manh Tuong and painter Vinh Son, etc.
8 painters with 8 different techniques and 8 different styles of the composition together create “Freshness” with harmonious color and shape.
The exhibition “Freshness” within the framework of Nguyen Dinh Thi Cultural and Art Space lasted until November 11, 2021. This year, the 2nd Nguyen Dinh Thi Literature and Art Award was awarded to young painter Bui Hoang Duong – one of 8 artists whose works are displayed at the exhibition. This year’s award named young painter Bui Hoang Duong for his “strong personal creations” in painting.
Painter Bui Hoang Duong received Nguyen Dinh Thi Literature and Art Award
The Nguyen Dinh Thi Literature and Art Award was initiated by the son of poet-writer Nguyen Dinh Chinh to honor artists working in fields that the former generations were passionate about, including literature, music, theater, fine arts and art criticism. This is an honorary award with no cash value. The awardee will be presented with a trophy created by sculptor Ta Quang Bao for the award and a certificate. The award is considered on two criteria: citizenship criteria and artistic criteria. In terms of citizenship, the awardee must be a good citizen who is honest, serious in cultural and artistic activities and humble… Regarding art, the creation of the artist must have new imprints beyond the old things, inheriting the creations of the previous generation of writers and artists and creating new works that bring positive energy to viewers.
First held in 2020, the Nguyen Dinh Thi Literature and Art Award was given to two authors, poet Thanh Thao and young author Nguyen Duy Trong. This year’s Award was given to young painter Bui Hoang Duong, who made an impression from the image of dogs to the Mo Muong culture in painting.

Painter Bui Hoang Duong was born in 1981 in Thanh Hoa province, studied Chinese Studies and Calligraphy in China. Art experts and fans highly appreciate the works of Bui Hoang Duong. Particularly, in the context that modern life forgets traditional cultural values, the young artist still preserves and integrates contemporary messages into each picture.
Painter Bui Hoang Duong pursues an art style imbued with the inner character of people and is not dependent on a certain inherent style. Previously, his solo exhibitions, such as “Love Hanoi forever”, “Duong’s tarot journey”, “Mo Muong”…, were held.
