Painter Linh Chi (1921 – 2016) whose real name is Nguyen Tai Luong, was born in Vinh Yen (Vinh Phuc), lived and composed in Hanoi. He was passionate about painting, with knowledge of painting accumulated through lectures by his teachers in high schools, the painter Linh Chi taught by himself and went on field trips in many lands to compose… At that time, he both studied and penetrated the life of our army and people during the resistance war and had many works that left a mark in the artistic life. The painter Linh Chi is famous for his oil, silk, and gouache paintings with realistic and rustic brushstrokes. He has also opened many exhibitions and many of his works are in the collections of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and other museums and personal collections in Russia, Poland, France, the Netherlands, the United States, and Japan, etc.

The exhibition “Painter Linh Chi – Stepping through 10 decades” introduces his nearly 100 valuable works, many of which were drawn during the period of resistance against the French and those that are considered to be his strengths such as portraits of highland girls, mountain and village landscapes, etc. The exhibition runs until the end of May 7 at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, located at 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
