This is also a practical, useful and meaningful activity to celebrate Vietnamese Family Day on June 28. Daily and weekend activities have also been carried out to introduce cultural features, practices and customs of people, together with experience activities at the “Common House” of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups, contributing to consolidating the relationship between ethnic groups, strengthening the community cohesion as well as the attachment of each family member, attracting family visitors to Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism after a period of social distancing due to COVID-19, and ensuring the “double target” of preventing and controlling the pandemic and organizing events in a safe manner.

Many interesting activities were held at Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in June.

Activities in June with the participation of nearly 100 people from 16 ethnic groups (Tay, Nung, Dao, Mong, Thai, Muong, Kho Mu, O Du, Ta Oi, Co Tu, Ba Na, Xo Dang, Gia Rai, RagLai, E De, Khmer) and 12 provinces Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Son La, Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuan, Dak Lak, Soc Trang.

Within the framework of the activities in June, the Organizing Committee organized the program “Our Childhood”, showing impressive activity photos in summer 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019: Handwriting contest “Handwriting shows human quality”; Drawing contest “I love my village”; Contest “A little action with big plastic waste” and some folk games for children like Mandarin Square Capturing, Bamboo jacks, etc.

An area for reading books will also be prepared for children and visitors. In addition, everyone has a chance to enjoy traditional musical instrument performance, experience and try playing the instruments, especially some folk games of ethnic minorities such as “Danh Yen”, “To Ma Le” in the villages of Xo Dang people, Thai people.

The highlight of the activities in June is the performance of the Communal house inauguration worshiping ceremony of Gia Rai ethnic group in Gia Lai province and the Filial piety ceremony of RagLai ethnic group in Ninh Thuan province. Being one of the important rituals of Gia Rai ethnic group, Communal house inauguration worshiping ceremony not only shows the family’s gratitude to Lords when they have a new house to live in but also pray for blessings to them. The sound of gongs at the ceremony expresses the ask for luck, prosperity and peace in life. The Filial piety ceremony of RagLai ethnic group in Ninh Thuan province follows the viewpoint “Trees have their roots, water has its sources”. Because this ceremony is not an internal affair of a family, but a common affair of the community, it is classified into the common system of festivals such as bo ma ceremony, wedding ceremony, new rice ceremony, and Lord worshipping ceremony.

In addition, the organizing committee also held daily activities and weekend activities of 16 ethnic groups, experience tourism program, cake making and wrapping program, folk games, and ceremony to pray for peace and blessings at Khmer pagoda, Cham tower… to introduce cultural features, practices and customs of the people, and experience activities at the “common house” of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups.
