This year, the visitors of Thay pagoda not only enjoy the scenery of the pagoda, but also contemplate and take pictures of the beautiful fresco road to the pagoda. This road is 0.5 km long with 20 paintings, connecting from the commune’s gate to Long Tri Lake. The fresco road has changed the countryside appearance of Sai Son, making the Thay pagoda more beautiful and making the beautiful impression on visitors.

Sharing about the idea of fresco road, “Sai Son has Thay pagoda as famous landscape, everyyear welcomes thousands of visitors to this festival. However, the main road to the Thay pagoda have many mildewed and mossy walls built by people for many years and renovated and repaired asynchronously. So, the commune authorities directed the Youth Union with a group of young volunteers from the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts to generate ideas and contents and draw frescos to replace such walls. The funds for the implementation of the project are socialized.” said Vice Chairman of the Sai Son Commune People’s Committee Ngo Van HungThe images on the fresco road is shown quite sharply and lively, with icons such as Thay pagoda, flowers of cotton trees, Long Tri lake, lotus, water puppetry activities … Most of them show the folk and joyful style, depict the daily activities in the rural area of North Vietnam, folk beliefs with the desire of prosperous and happy life. Besides the aesthetics, the frescoes also contribute to promoting the rustic Doai culture of Sai Son.

Ms. Chu Thi Hang, a resident of Da Phuc commune said that when the local authorities and the Youth Union mobilized the families to remove the advertising board to build the frescoe road, everyone happily consented. “Since the road is completed, everyday there are hundreds of tourists to come here to take pictures. We feel proud, love our hometown more and more, and are more responsible for protecting the environment and landscape,” said she.
