Quanzhou International Stage Festival is an annual art event, this year the Festival attended by many art troupes from many countries such as Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Estonia, Poland, Japan, Korea, Jordan, Egypt, India, etc.
As the representative of Vietnam to attend the Festival, Hanoi Drama Theatre selected the fairy tales of Two Magic Balls to introduce to international audience and colleagues. This play was directed by People’s artist Tuan Hai and performed by the Hanoi Drama Theatre, presented to the audience for the 2017 Mid-Autumn Festival.
The Two Magic Balls told the story of the kind-hearted Da Trang man was given two magic balls which enable him to hear and understand the animals’ language. Thanks to these two balls, Da Trang has done much good to help surrounding people. However, because of his greedy and unfaithful wife, the magic balls fell into the hands of Long Vuong. Da Trang bailed water out of the China Sea to reclaim his precious balls and turned into a small Crab by the Sea… The Play is a thrilling story about the animals but also the meaningful lessons for the children in behaviors in life, humanity, loyalty, good manners, none cheat for greed, etc.
The Two Magic Ball was performed by artists, actors of Hanoi Drama Theatre such as: People’s Artist Cong Ly, Artist Ngoc Quynh, Artist Thanh Huong, Artist Thien Tung, Quang Minh, Thu Huong, Dien Vien, Thuy He, Xuan Hong, Manh Cuong, Thuy Linh, Thanh Hoa, Viet Dung, etc.
People’s Artist Tuan Hai- the Stage director said, Hanoi Drama Theatre selected the Fairy Tale of Da Trang with the desire to bring to the 2017 Quanzhou International Stage Festival one of the good folk fairy tales of Vietnam – a lively colorful picture and imbued with national identity. It is known that, besides the Two Magic Balls, at the opening night of the Festival, the Vietnamese delegation also had an introduction to the art of performing Vietnamese “hau dong” to international friends.
