Phuc Tho Folk Arts Troupe, a member unit of Vietnam Folk Arts Club, was launched in a ceremony held at the People’s Committee of Van Phuc Commune, Phuc Tho District in the evening of June 24. Attending guests at the ceremony were Mr. Le Duy Chu, former Senior Specialist of the Government Office, Chairman of Vietnam Folk Arts Club; leaders of Phuc Tho Center for Culture, Information, and Sports; leaders of Party committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee of Van Phuc Commune, and people from all over the district.

      The folk arts troupe comprises of 40 members, including 3 leadership members, led by Mr. Doan Dang Lanh. Since its establishment, the troupe has developed its monthly, quarterly, and annual plans to further expand its activities and attract the participation of more members. The establishment of the folk arts troupe is aimed at creating an environment where traditional art enthusiasts could learn from each other and improve their skills in the field of public art. The folk arts troupe is expected to contribute to the development of the cultural and artistic movement in Phuc Tho District in particular and Hanoi City in general. The establishment of the arts troupe is also of special significance in preserving and promoting the country’s traditional artistic values, especially the values of the Chau Van (Vietnamese ritual singing), an art form recognized by UNESCO as a world intangible cultural heritage site.

At the launching ceremony, special stages were brought to the delegates by members of Vietnam Folk Arts Club.
