IchLinks (https://www.ichlinks.com) is an online platform that stores a large amount of content and information on intangible cultural heritages shared among the member countries of the Asia-Pacific region, with advanced features for searching, browsing and information management. Researchers, practitioners, policymakers and others can easily find and locate information through the ichLinks platform with the help of digital technology. In addition, users of ichLinks platform can also use access information to promote their cultural heritage and create opportunities to exploit intangible cultural heritage for economic and social development, and in many fields such as tourism and cultural and creative industries.

In 2020-2021, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies and ICHCAP have submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for approving the task of building and developing intangible cultural heritage database and digital content in Vietnam on ichLinks website. From January to October 2021, the research and technical staff of the Institute completed the collection and posting of data on Vietnam’s typical intangible cultural heritage within the cooperation framework on ichLinks page. Accordingly, ichLinks platform has officially come into operation with sample intangible cultural heritage data of 7 member countries (including Malaysia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, and Fiji) since March 2021. Key data will include background information on intangible cultural heritage, data sources, information on stakeholders, and news and events on intangible cultural heritage As such, all of these data constitute a primary and essential layer of information for users, which is regularly updated by the Member States.

These primary data sources will be used to create engaging content, forming the second information layer of the system. This layer can include specially curated GIS-based collections or exhibitions, stories, virtual and augmented reality regarding culture and cultural heritage that will be introduced through high information technologies.

The participation in ichLinks system has helped Vietnam widely promote the image of the country’s intangible cultural heritage while building a network and linkage with other member organizations at home and abroad to protect and promote the cultural heritage value.
