The illustration contest “Hanoi is…” is a part of the Hanoi Rethink project organized by UNESCO, UN-Habitat and UNIDO with the support of SOVICO Group to support Hanoi city in realizing its strategic vision of becoming a Creative City in the field of design, using cultural heritage with the participation of the young Vietnamese generation – as an essential element for innovation, creativity and change. The contest is jointly organized by UNESCO, UN-Habitat, and the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies (VICAS) with the companionship of Vietnam Local Artist Group (VLAG).

The organizers said that the COVID-19 pandemic may limit our movement but cannot stop the flow of creativity. The illustration contest “Hanoi is…” welcomes unique ideas from the visual artist community of various genres such as painting, illustration, design, etc. Entrants can freely express a Hanoi behind each author’s own artistic lens and emotions. This will be a playground that promotes many unique, unexpected and imaginative ideas about Hanoi, to promote Hanoi as the Creative Capital as well as to connect the mass audience with the young generation of artists.

The time to receive entries for the Contest is from August 6 to September 9, 2021. The contest jury included prominent artists in the painting and illustration community such as Xuan Lam, Tu Na, Kawako Giang Nguyen, X.Lan and Noh-a, etc.

Entries must meet the following requirements: eligible works must be submitted via the registration form; the original file of the entries must have a resolution of 300dpi, minimum size 40cm x 40cm.

Entries can be drawn electronically or on paper, scanned or photographed neatly, crisply, without shadow, without sticking to extraneous objects such as background, table surface, crayons…; the picture does not include text unless the text is part of the work; the introduction of the work does not add extraneous information such as advertising, news, links, hashtags that are not in accordance with regulations.

The total prize value of the contest is over VND 60 million, including 1 First Prize, 4 Second Prizes, 1 Voting Prize and 24 outstanding works.
