At the meeting of the National Steering Committee on the preparation of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (31st SEA Games) in Vietnam on November 2, it was decided to officially hold the congress from May 12-23, 2022.
In which, Hanoi is the main host, along with a number of other localities such as Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Ha Nam… with 40 sports and 520 contents. This is the second SEA Games that Hanoi is hosting Games, after the first time in 2003.
My Dinh National Stadium will be the venue for the opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games and the venue for athletics events.
40 sports in the official competition program of SEA Games, including Athletics, swimming, Vovinam, gymnastics, shooting, football, tennis, weightlifting, archery, bodybuilding, billiard-snooker, judo, taekwondo, wushu, wrestling, fencing, badminton, rattan, basketball, golf, table tennis, diving, volleyball, handball, chess, kurash, boxing, kick-boxing, jujitsu, petanque, canoeing/kayak, rowing, karate, cycling, dance sports, pencak silat, muay, bowling, e-sports, triathlon.
In addition to the main venue of Hanoi, 11 neighboring provinces are also hosting a number of sports: Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Phu Tho.
In Hanoi, My Dinh National Stadium will be the venue for athletics events. Quan Ngua Sports Palace will organize the contents of Gymnastics, Artistic Gymnastics, Aerobic Gymnastics. The Hanoi National Sports Competition and Training Center will organize the contents of Pistol, Rifle, Frisbee, Archery, Weightlifting, Bodybuilding, Petanque.
Quan Ngua Sports Palace will organize the contents of Gymnastics, Artistic Gymnastics, and Aerobic Gymnastics.
Tay Ho Gymnasium organizes the content of Taekwondo. The indoor Athletics Palace will host Fencing events. Hoai Duc Gymnasium will organize the contents of Judo and Kurash subjects. Cau Giay Gymnasium will organize the contents of Wushu.
The contents of Pencak Silat will be held at Bac Tu Liem Gymnasium. Classical Wrestling and Freestyle Wrestling will held at Gia Lam Gymnasium.
Soc Son Gymnasium organizes the contents of Vovinam. Sports Dance will be held at the Long Bien Gymnasium. Dan Phuong Gymnasium organizes the content of Jujitsu.
The contents of Swimming, Springboard and Diving will be held at the Water Sports Palace (My Dinh National Sports Complex). Basketball will be held at Thanh Tri Gymnasium. Hoang Mai Gymnasium organizes the contents of Sepak Takraw. Billiard is held at Ha Dong Gymnasium.
Bowling will be held at Royal City Hanoi and the contents of eSports at the National Convention Center.
In other provinces and cities, Hoa Binh province will organize road bike and terrain bike. Bac Ninh province will organize Boxing, Kickboxing, Tennis, Indoor Handball. Karate will be held at the Ninh Binh Provincial Gymnasium.
Vinh Phuc province will organize Muay, Golf. Triathlon and Duathlon (3 pentathlons), Women’s football, Volleyball, Beach handball, Chess, Chinese chess will be held in Quang Ninh.
Hai Phong is the place where Rowing, Canoeing and Keyak sports take place. Hai Duong province organizes table tennis and Bac Giang province organizes badminton.
Men’s football will be held at Thien Truong Stadium (Nam Dinh), Cam Pha Stadium (Quang Ninh).
