Hanoi Student Basketball Tournament is an age-old tournament for students in the capital city. The tournament is divided into 4 events: High School Boys, High School Girls, Secondary School Boys, and Secondary School Girls. There are 196 matches in total. In the High School events, the teams compete in the knockout format. In the Secondary School events, the teams play round-robin matches for the right to advance to knockout rounds.
This year’s tournament has a total of 168 teams, including 89 high schoolboy teams, 40 high school girl teams, 23 secondary school boy teams, and 20 secondary school girl teams. The tournament is held at Thanh Tri Stadium from January 8 to January 27.
Due to the complicated situation of COVID-19 and the cold weather, the Organizer has decided not to hold the opening ceremony to ensure the health and safety of the players. On the first day of competition, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai had a major feat against VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities – High School for Gifted Students by a score of 62-9, Phan Dinh Phung over Chuong My A (51-6), Xuan Mai over Herman Gmeiner (43-19), and Nguyen Gia Thieu over Soc Son (25-15). In High School girls’ event, Wellspring and Yen Hoa advanced after winning Dong Da and Luong The Vinh.
In the Secondary School boys’ event, VinSchool Long Bien lost 11-13 to Trung Vuong, while Chu Van An easily won Thai Thinh by a score of 35-25.
