In the evening of October 26, 2017, at the district’s stadium, Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee of Phu Xuyen District jointly held the opening ceremony to the 3rd Traditional Craft Village Honoring Festival. Attending guests at the opening ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Party Municipal Secretary, Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council; Mr. Vu Hong Khanh, Commissioner of the Standing Board of the Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Municipal Committee of Hanoi City; Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Commissioner of the Standing Board of the Municipal Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Municipal Labor Union; Mr. Nguyen Doan Toan, Commissioner of the Municipal Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, and representatives of leaders of municipal departments and sectors. Mr. Truong Minh Tien, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, also attended and sent his greetings to the festival. The presence of the leaders of the district at the ceremony was represented by the Secretary of the District Party Committee, the Chairman of the District People’s Council, the Chairman of the District People’s Committee, and heads of boards and offices of the Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee of Phu Xuyen District. Other guests were leaders of other districts in the city and municipal as well as district leaders of Ha Nam, Hung Yen, and people in and outside of the district.

The opening ceremony to Phu Xuyen District’s Traditional Craft Village Honoring Festival included singing and dancing performances, unique lion and dragon dancing performances, palanquin procession of ancestors of profession of 4 representative communes, namely Chuyen My, Phu Tuc, Van Nhan, Phu Yen, profession ancestor incense offering ceremonies, and ribbon cutting ceremony. Phu Xuyen District’s 3rd Traditional Craft Village Honoring Festival was broadcasted live on channel H1 of Hanoi Radio and Television.

Phu Xuyen District’s 3rd Traditional Craft Village Honoring Festival was held at Phu Xuyen District’s stadium on an area of over 20,000 m2, of which 10,000m2 at the center of the festival area was reserved for trading activities with nearly 400 booths displaying typical, well-known product groups of good quality from various localities in the district such as mosaic products from Chuyen My Commune, high-end carpentry products from Tan Dan Commune, suits from Van Tu Commune, leather footwear from Phu Yen Commune, peanut sweets from Co Hoang Village, Hoang Long Commune, and some products favored by visitors and local people such as handicraft products made of forked ferns from Phu Tuc Commune, wooden furniture and utensils from Tan Dan Commune and Van Nhan Commune, toy figurines from Xuan La, Phuong Duc Commune, and so on. The festival also featured 100 art photographs of the district’s socio-economic achievements, craft villages, traditional products, and agricultural products.
The highlight of this year’s festival was the decoration of the festive space and the presentation of craft products in the art of installation which created impression and helped customers better understand the use of products. Many unique and sophisticated products were highly appreciated by visitors such as high-end carpentry products, mosaic products, and traditional lacquerware. One of the most impressive products was a wooden plank bed of 2.15m wide, 5.40m long, 30cm thick, worth about 3.5 billion VND of Van Nhan carpentry village. Thousands of other products with a total value up to 250 billion VND were also displayed in seven blocks. The festival took place in four days (from October 26 to October 29) with various interesting activities such as photo exhibitions and installation art, traditional cultural and artistic exchanges, traditional skill performances, tour presentations, folk games, launch of “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” movement, and praising of 221 individuals who were given the title of “Good People, Good Deeds” in 2017. There were also art performances by professional art troupes as well public art and cultural performances.

In the evening of October 29, the closing ceremony of Phu Xuyen District’s 3rd Traditional Craft Village Honoring Festival was held at the district’s stadium. The festival attracted a total of 100,000 visitors with various products being purchased at a total value of nearly 15 billion VND. The most favored products were Phu Yen leather footwear, Van Tu garment, and Van Nhan and Tan Dan carpentry products. At the closing ceremony, the People’s Committee of the district rewarded 68 units and 131 individuals who had contributed to the festival./.
