The Covid-19 epidemic is undergoing a new change, if the situation improves, many mass sports activities will be normalized in May 2020. According to the work plan of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, it is expected that sports activities across the country will return in May. In which, the mass sports will take place excitingly with competitions, domestic sports competitions and training classes nationwide.

Safe swimming program to prevent drowning for local instructors is expected to take place in early May.

Mass sports activities will return, meaning parks will open, gyms will be available, small sporting events (if allowed and well controlled) will be held. For people in need of sports to improve their health, this is good news. Previously, in the past 3 weeks, applying the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 16 on social distancing, sports lovers have had to find ways to practice at home to maintain their performance.

However, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training also emphasized that the above sporting events will only take place when the Covid epidemic is no longer dangerous and with the permission of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Government of Vietnam. Following the direction of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Departments and units will only organize tournaments, training classes depending on the situation of Covid-19 epidemic. At the present time, localities have always been very close, directing high-performance sports teams and movement sports activities, and clubs maintaining their training through self-training at home according to the coach’s lesson. The time from now until the scheduled kick-off date is enough for teams and localities to prepare for the tournament.

Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Sports and Sports also sent a letter directing the National Sports Training Centers and localities, recommending the teams to well implement translation, ensuring the health of athletes right from the time the translation is complicated. In addition, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training also requires teams and localities to be proactive in preparing reasonable plans to reorganize activities as soon as possible when the epidemic stops.
