In 2020, the Department of Culture and Sports has advised Hanoi City to successfully, safely and effectively organize activities to serve political events and celebrations of the great holidays of Vietnam and the capital. : (1) Hanoi City presides over and coordinates with ministries, departments, agencies and central agencies to successfully organize 04 national-level celebrations: 90 years of establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam; 130 years of Date of birth of President Ho Chi Minh; 90 years of Day of Establishment of the National Front for the Unification of Vietnam – Traditional day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; 45 years of the National Day of the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos and 100 years of birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane; (2) a series of commemorative activities at the city level: 1010 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, 650 years of death of Celebrity Chu Van An; activities to welcome and successfully celebrate the 17th Hanoi City Party Congress … leave a mark among the people and visitors to the Capital.
2. Socializing the organization of activities and events – the highlight of the Capital Culture and Sports sector in 2020.
In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic broke out and spread all over the world, directly affecting the socio-economic life of all countries in the world, including Vietnam. The Department of Culture and Sports’s implementation of the 2020 Sector Work Plan also faced many difficulties due to the impacts of the pandemic. However, with the spirit of determination and creativity, the Department has coordinated and mobilized many organizations and individuals to participate in investment and collaboration, contribute to the successful organization of many cultural and sports events in the city and saving the state budget. Some outstanding socialization activities include Countdown Art Programs to Welcome New Year; VP Bank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 tournament; most activities and events in Hoan Kiem Lake pedestrian street; Open Hanoi City Dragon Boat Tournament 2020; restoration and embellishment of relics (45 relics have been restored with 100% of socialization resources)
3. Series of propaganda and implementation activities of the 02 Codes of Conduct in Hanoi city.
In order to improve efficiency in propaganda and implementation of the 02 Codes of Conduct in the city, by 2020, the Department of Culture and Sports has organized a variety of propaganda activities to build elegant and civilized Hanoi people, focusing on implementing 02 codes of conduct such as Online examination of propagating the Codes of Conduct in the agency with the participation of more than 12,000 City officials and civil servants; Online seminar to 30 districts on improving the quality of grassroots culture; Final contest for Excellent Movement Officer in City 2020.
4. Innovating and creating activities at Hoa Lo Prison Relic
In 2020, due to the influence of the Covid – 19 pandemic, cultural and sports activities in Hanoi city also faced many difficulties. However, with the spirit of effort, creativity, finding new ideas and directions to improve operational efficiency, the non-business units under the Department of Culture and Sports have made many innovations and achieved many positive results, in which Hoa Lo Prison Relic is a typical example. Hoa Lo Prison Relic has constantly sought new ideas and directions to attract and stimulate the demands of domestic customers with existing abilities and internal strengths, including successfully organizing the opening of 04 thematic displays, 02 exhibitions and 02 mobile displays. Especially, the experience space has been put into the displays at the relic, notably the experience tour program “Sacred Night – Shining Vietnamese spirit” and “Sacred Night – Living like flowers”. The program has great value in educating all classes of people on tradition of patriotism and revolution.
5. Being effective in the work of decoration, propaganda and visual promotion in the city
In 2020, the work of decoration, propaganda and visual promotion for political service in the city will be carried out proactively, creatively and in accordance with the guidance of the Central and City, with focus, center, design and form innovated in accordance with the scale and level of each event, commensurate with the position of Hanoi Capital – a major cultural center of the country. The decoration, propaganda and visual promotion with the participation and companionship of artists, students, businesses, organizations, individuals … have contributed to improving the efficiency of the landscape beautification of Hanoi capital with a thousand years of civilization, the heroic capital, the creative city of UNESCO.
6. 4th Capital Theatrical Festival 2020
4th Capital Theatrical Festival 2020 took place from September 26 to October 3, 2020 with the participation of 13 art units of the Capital and some provinces and cities. In addition to art units located in the capital such as Hanoi Drama Theater, Hanoi Cheo Theater, Hanoi Cai Luong Theater, Vietnam Drama Theater, Vietnam Cheo Theater, Vietnamese Cai Luong Theater, Youth Theater…, the festival remains with the participation of many units in other localities such as Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association, Bac Lieu Provincial Theater Association, Bac Giang Cheo Theater.
According to the Judges’ Council, the 4th Capital Theatrical Festival 2020 has spread and attracted many works that reflect authentically and attractively the life and struggles of the old and present Hanoi people. Many old scripts are staged with new thinking, many potential young directors and actors appear.
7. Literary and artistic creation campaign to celebrate 1010 years of Thang Long – Hanoi
In order to promote the literary and artistic creation movement, select works with profound contents and artistic ideas to contribute to the national and City’s literature and arts, from December 2019, Hanoi People’s Committee has launched all artists and people of the capital to promote their talents and enthusiasm to participate in the Literary and artistic creation campaign to celebrate 1010 years of Thang Long – Hanoi. This is one of the key activities in a series of activities to celebrate the 1010 anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi. The campaign received 317 works; the Art Council of the preliminary round held an appraisal and selected 68 excellent works to participate in the Final round, including 42 and 26 works in the professional and amateur art field. respectively. Most of the works participating in the Campaign are of good quality, on the right topic set by the Organizing Committee. 8. Kick-off with SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11
According to the master scheme approved by the Prime Minister, the Southeast Asian Games – 31st SEA Games – will take place from November 21 to the beginning of December 2021 in Hanoi and 10 neighboring provinces. After that, the 11th Southeast Asian Games for People with Disabilities (ASEAN Para Games) will be held in December 2021 in Hanoi capital.
To mark the time of one year before the opening ceremony of SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11, on November 21, at the Ly Thai To monument area, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Hanoi City People’s Committee in organizing the program “Kick-off with SEA Games 31”.
This is an activity to propagate and introduce domestic people and international friends to the significance and importance of hosting these events.
9. VP Bank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020- The first night running tournament held in Hanoi
The race attracted nearly 6,000 people directly participating in the actual run in Hanoi and thousands of athletes participating in running at bridge points throughout the country, the ASEAN region and many other countries around the world. The athletes competed at 4 distances of 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km. Thousands of athletes of VPBank Hanoi Marathon ASEAN 2020 from all continents jointed, which was broadcast live on social channels and networks conveyed a vivid message about a “Vietnam – a safe destination” – which has important implications for the country’s image, especially for the tourism industry in the difficult context of the pandemic. This is the official event of the 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship, the first night running tournament to be held in Hanoi.
10. The Hanoi and Vietnam archery athletes to officially win the right to attend the Olympics for the first time
