Implementing the assignment of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a written response to several recommendations in the field of sports of the Hanoi People’s Committee at the Government’s Video Conference with localities according to Official Letter No. 276/VPCP-QHDP dated January 10, 2020, of the Government Office, of which:
Regarding the proposal of a mechanism to build the Athletes’ Village to serve the 31st SEA Games, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism answered: The hosting of the 31st SEA Games in 2021 in Vietnam implemented under the motto of thoroughly utilizing available facilities in Hanoi and some neighboring localities to organize the Games, the proposed plan is to use hotels, accommodation facilities are available in Hanoi city and related localities to serve meals and accommodation for sports teams attending 31st SEA Games.
The Philippines’ 500-room Athletes’ Village – the heart of the 30th SEA Games.
However, according to the practices of the SEA Games, the construction of the Athletes’ Village is the preferred plan to ensure the accommodation, transportation, and other services for the sports delegation attending the Games. Therefore, the construction of the Athletes’ Village is always considered by the nations organizing the SEA Games as the preferred plan. In the specific conditions of Hanoi City, it is possible to build the Athletes’ Village area under the socialization mechanism, firstly to serve the 31st SEA Games, after which it will change the purpose of the Athletes’ Village to become residential apartments or service activities to recover investment capital.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism supports the policy of building an Athletes’ Village according to the socialization mechanism to organize the 31st SEA Games. However, the time from now until the Games is no longer available, Hanoi City is urgently requested to study and submit specific proposals to relevant ministries and branches for appraisal and submission to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision to keep up the schedule for organizing the Games.
Regarding the proposal of interest and support to Hanoi City to successfully organize the Formula 1 car race event in My Dinh, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also answered: In recent years, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has actively coordinated with the Hanoi People’s Committee to propose to the Government to deploy the preparation work to organize the Formula 1 car race in My Dinh area, especially the public clearing and handing over the ground to build the racetrack. In order to deploy the preparation and organization of the race, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent a Deputy Secretary and a leader of the General Department of Physical Training and Sports to join the Organizing Committee for the race.
Currently, the work to prepare for the Formula 1 car race in My Dinh area has met the progress, but there are still some difficulties that need to be removed to ensure the race according to plan. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agrees with the proposal of the Hanoi City People’s Committee to request the Government to pay attention to direct ministries and branches to support and coordinate closely for the successful organization of this event.
