Recently, the Cinema Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) sent an official letter No. 230/DA-NT to the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio (DSF) to adjust the implementation of a documentary film on prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic right in 2020.
The official letter clearly stated that, before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the drastic participation of the entire political system and the efforts and determination of the Party, the Government, the entire people, the entire army, the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic has obtained important initial results. The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, the Government and the Prime Minister have promptly instructed all levels and branches to focus on drastically, synchronously and effectively implementing many pandemic prevention tasks and solutions with the spirit of “fighting the epidemic is like fighting against the enemy”; treatment and rehabilitation for sick people; minimize the spread to the community; is trusted, coordinated and supported by the people nationwide and highly appreciated by the international community.
The Cinema Department highly appreciated the initiative of the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio when it quickly built a documentary script on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, affirming Vietnam’s efforts on the front line against the pandemic.
However, in response to the current urgent request, the Cinema Department has asked the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio to make adjustments to the production plan of the film “The Unlimited War” (title of a documentary film on the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic proposed by the Film Studio) into the 2020 plan. Currently, the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio is proposing to include in the 2021 production plan.
Due to the characteristics of documentary (scientific) language and filmmaking of the film industry, the Cinema Department proposed that the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio does not build the film in the direction of reporting, recording, and running after the to events.
In addition, the Cinema Department suggested that when making the film, the Board of Directors of the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio proactively implements measures to prevent and control the pandemic for the components involved in film production and live recording on the scene; ensures medical safety as required by functional agencies.
“Unlimited War” is directed by Nguyen Quang Tuan and written by Vu Thi Diep. This is the first documentary film about the prevention and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, affirming the proactive, active, scientific and spirit of “fighting the epidemic is like fighting against the enemy” of the Party, Government, the entire army and the entire people.
