To celebrate the 16-year anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day (28 June 2001- 28 June 2017), on 27 June 2017, at Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a programme for exchanges of cultural villages and praising typical cultural families in Hanoi city – in 2017 with the participation of 17 cultural villages, representatives of 16 districts and Son Tay town and 89 typical cultural families. Apart from praising 17 cultural villages and 89 typical cultural families, the exchange program taken place with many special and attractive items of performance of cultural villages and cultural families.

Praising typical cultural families
In the speech launched at the exchange programme, Mr. Nguyen Khac Loi – Vice Director of Hano Department Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized: “Vietnam Family Date 28 June has become a traditional day with the spirit directing towards families and ancestors to maintain good affection, noble human value of the nation. That is also the day to remember and uphold tradition, discipline, make people think more thoroughly and take more practical actions to build up a happy and prosperous families, trending towards the sustaitanable development of families and country. Each cultural family is a healthly cell of the society. 89 honoured and praised cultural families are typical representatives, cores and good examples in thousands of the capital’s cultural families which have contributed to the successful construction and development of the capital of thousand-year culture. Cultural families, villages and residential groups are considered as cultural titles of the movovement called “Solidarity of all residents in building up a cultural life”. The quality of cultural titles is a vivid symbol of dramatically changed physical and spiritual life in the locality.

Currently, there are 1,401 cultural villages in Hanoi. Cultural villages have promoted their roles in strengthening the relationship of great unity, consolidating the belief of residents to the Party and State. From this, village and commune affection has been fostered, the relationship of each person, each family has been further improved. Social evils, unsound customs, superstition have been gradually wiped out. Cultural and performance movements have been developed widely in diversified forms, attracting the participation of many people at different ages and creating a colourful cultural painting, raising the awareness in preservation and protection of traditional culture which presents national characters. They are cultural values which have been tempered through generations, after bamboo rows of villages, next to the well of the village, under the roof of the villages’ communal houses, in festivals of villages, and everybody live together with affection, gratitude and support.
