In preparation for the 200th anniversary of the construction of Son Tay Ancient Citadel (1822 – 2022), the People’s Committee of Son Tay Township has been implementing many activities to honor, affirm, introduce and promote the outstanding values of architecture and art of Son Tay Ancient Citadel historical relics, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of the Program No. 11-CTr/TU of Son Tay Township Committee on “Socio-cultural development on the basis of preserving and promoting cultural and historical values, building elegant and civilized Son Tay people in the period 2021 – 2025”.

Activities towards the 200th anniversary of the construction of the Son Tay Ancient Citadel include the following contents: Renovating and refurbishing the Ancient Citadel and completing the works to serve the landscape around the citadel; accelerating the project of preserving and promoting the value of the Son Tay Ancient Citadel and the project related to the Ancient Citadel; promoting propaganda, promotion and enhancement of the value of the Son Tay Ancient Citadel and building a dossier to submit to the superiors to recognize the Son Tay Ancient Citadel as a special national relic; Launching the publication: “Son Tay Ancient Citadel” and “Cultural Heritage in Duong Lam”…

In addition, Son Tay township has been organizing competitions to create clips, poems, poetries, songs and paintings about Son Tay Ancient Citadel; organizing sports tournaments, performances, exhibitions, displaying paintings, photos, flowers, bonsais, antiques, calligraphy, folkloric performances, organizing information and propaganda activities in the ancient citadel area and the whole town, organizing the International Balloon Festival…
