Nearly 400 Athletes Compete in the 2024 Hanoi Open Taekwondo Tournament
The tournament, organized by Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, has attracted nearly 400 athletes from 37 provinces, cities, and organizations, who compete for 120 sets of medals.

Mrs. Tran Minh Chau, the Deputy Head of Sports Management Division at Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, delivered the opening speech for the tournament.
At the opening ceremony, Mrs. Tran Minh Chau, the Deputy Head of Sports Management Division at Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports shared that, Taekwondo in Vietnam has garnered widespread participation from young people. Taekwondo was introduced and developed in Hanoi in 1988. Since then, several athletes from the city have participated in the Olympics and achieved high rankings at Asiad, SEA Games, World Championships, as well as Asian Championships and Southeast Asian Championships.

The organizers presented souvenir flags and flowers to the participating units.
“With the large number of participants, this tournament promises to be an exciting and professional competition, offering an opportunity to select outstanding athletes for the national team, who will represent Vietnam in upcoming international competitions. Additionally, it will help further promote the practice of Taekwondo across the country,” – emphasized Mr. Tran Minh Chau.

Hanoi athletes performed martial arts at the opening ceremony.
After the ceremony, the athletes began competing in the various subjects of the tournament.
The tournament will run until October 31, 2024.
