Duong Lam ancient village
The local authorities will focus on promoting the value of Duong Lam ancient village, aiming at welcoming 15,000 visitors per year and having from 10% to 15% of its households gaining stable income from providing tourism services to tourists visiting the relic site. Also, to preserve the ancient village and address people’s housing needs, Son Tay Town will complete the relocation of 150 households as planned for the relocation project phase
To accomplish these goals, Son Tay Town has invested actively against degradation in the relic site, taken advantage of all resources for renovation and embellishment of the relic, and developed infrastructure to cater to the needs of tourists. The region has also transformed its agricultural economic structure to match with the development of the tourism-services model in Duong Lam Commune and developed its cultural heritage tourism towards linking with agricultural ecotourism activities.
Particularly, the propaganda and mobilization of support of officials and people on the special value of the relic will heavily be focused on in order to further raise awareness and sense of responsibility in the management, conservation, and promotion of the value of Duong Lam ancient village.
Since Duong Lam ancient village was given the title of national artistic-architectural relic site 10 years ago, Son Tay Town has focused on the conservation and promotion of the value of the relic. In conserving the relic site, the local authorities have focused on managing building permits, designing model houses for people to apply in construction, preserving and renovating the temple and mausoleum of Ngo Quyen, Cam Thinh communal house, Doai Giap communal house, and preserving 12 ancient observation posts, 10 ancient wells, 10 ancient houses, the landscape on the road from Mong Phu village gate to Mong Phu communal house, and so on.
Son Tay Town has step-by-step implemented a project on preservation, embellishment, and promotion of the value of Duong Lam ancient village; formed regulations on management, conservation, development, and promotion of the value of Duong Lam ancient village; planned resettlement areas and deployed civil works; and formed mechanisms and policies to support the people living in the relic region.
In promoting the value of the relic site, Son Tay Town has also paid attention to propagating and promoting the value of Duong Lam ancient village, set up a team of tour guides working at the monuments to introduce to visitors the value of the relic site, developed a homestay system in ancient houses, and developed ancient village tours to several relic sites in the town.
