Books are the repository of mankind knowledge, products of spiritual culture which play an important role. Books are the teachers who teach us how to live, how to be human, toward great human values; books are close friends sharing joy, sorrows in each of us. For a long time, reading has become a necessity for everyone. With that precious meaning, responding to the 5th Vietnamese Book Day (April 21) – World Book and Copyright Day (April 23), on morning April 12, at No. 2B Quang Trung – Ha Dong, Hanoi Library held the 2018 Book Festival with the theme “Books – A friend, a teacher” to honor the value of books and reading culture, contributing to the development of reading movement in all walks of life of the City.
Attending the opening ceremony of the Book Festival were Ms. Doan Quynh Dung – Deputy Director of Library Department; Mr. Tran Van Ha – Director of Hanoi Library; Mr. Do Cong Luan – Head of Library Information Division of National Library of Vietnam together with many delegates, library staff, library readers, teachers, school library staff and students of Nguyen Trai Secondary School, Van Phuc Secondary School, Nguyen Trai Primary School, Yet Kieu Primary School.
This year’s Book Festival is held with many exciting activities, including: Displaying, introducing many valuable materials towards the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s Call for Patriotic Emulation ( June 11, 1948 – June 11, 2018) and the 10th Hanoi Capital Reunification Day (August 1, 2008 – August 1, 2018); authors exchanging – works and readers; book donation; painting according to books with the theme “For a green – clean – beautiful Hanoi”; perception of a favorite book; talking on “Books and reading culture” …
The Book Festival creates a useful and meaningful cultural space for all readers and book lovers.
