Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports awarded certificates of merit to the typical faces of the Capital Sports.
On 27/3/1946, President Ho Chi Minh called on the community to practice physical exercise and this is the official Vietnam Sports Day. The annual Sports Day is to encourage and develop the community sports movement, improve professional sports achievements, and gradually become a part of the national culture as a driving force for the country’s socio-economic development.
On this occasion, more than 450 typical faces of the Capital Sports were awarded the Certificates of Merit including 278 athletes and 84 coaches who achieved outstanding achievements at the 8th National Games 2018 from Hanoi People’s Committee. Many management and professional staff of Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center also received the Certificates of Merit of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Certificates of Merit of Hanoi City People’s Committee on achievements in the past year.
For achievement report in 2018, the Director of Ha Noi Sports Training and Competition Center, Mr. Dao Quoc Thang, affirmed that officials, coaches and athletes are always the leading unit in the whole country and excellently fulfill the assigned tasks in 2018.

At ASIAD 18, Hanoi sports delegation had the largest number of athletes participating in the competition with 148/523 officials, referees, experts, coaches and athletes. Hanoi Sports has promoted its role as a key unit and contributed 1 gold medal, 6 silver medals and 9 bronze medals, accounting for more than 42% of the medals of the Vietnam Sports Delegation. In particular, Athlete Bui Thi Thu Thao won the historic gold medal in the long jump content. This is the first gold medal for Vietnam Athletics in ASIAD periods and the gold medal of Olympic group.
At the 8th National Games – 2018, Hanoi sports delegation continued to affirm Vietnam’s leading position for the successive 5th time since the 4th National Games in 2002, with 176 gold medals, 149 silver medals and 139 bronze medals and many records set and thereby confirming the leading position of Hanoi Sports.
Performances of the Center’s athletes
In 2019, Hanoi Sports began a new cycle of training and competition. In the clear sense of honor and great responsibility that the Party Committee, People’s Council, City People’s Committee and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports entrusted, the Center’s Director Dao Quoc Thang affirmed: With its available internal forces and achievements, Ha Noi Sports Training and Competition Center will constantly strive and continue to affirm its position in domestic, regional, continental and international competitions and deserve 8 golden words “Fast, strong, comprehensive and sustainable” given to Hanoi Sports by the City’s leaders.
