In 2020, Hanoi Capital’s Culture and Sports industry continued to improve its capacity and efficiency in State management, with many outstanding results in industry work. The inspection and handling of violations were strengthened to promptly and effectively solve any problems arising. Political events and major holidays of the country and the capital were successfully organized. The tasks of the standing agency of the Steering Committee of the Program 04-Ctr/TU of Hanoi City Party Committee on “Socio-cultural development, improvement of human resources quality of the Capital, building an image of elegant and civilized Hanoians in period 2016-2020” were well fulfilled, especially, the task of building an image of elegant and civilized Hanoians was implemented innovatively and creatively, creating a positive change in the cultural life in general and the behavioral culture in particular of Hanoians.
The heritage conservation and promotion work has been paid more and more attention by focusing on conservation, embellishment and enhancement. To be specific, 179 monuments have been repaired and embellished; national relic and antique application dossier was prepared for 1,000 relics and antiques; 46 monuments were ranked. Activities of library, film screening, visual propaganda and promotion, etc. have been carried out in accordance with schedule and plan. High-performance sports continued to take the leading position in the whole country while all public sports indexes achieved the target.

With the above-mentioned results, the capital’s culture and sports industry sets out key tasks and solutions for 2021, including: Strengthening the State management, inspection, examination, and post-examination to well control and manage operations and any problems arise; Implementing solutions to attract socialized resources and develop culture and sports activities in the city; Enhancing administrative reform, information technology application, and improving efficiency in task performance; Continuing to research new solutions to widely and effectively implement the Code of Conduct in public places and Code of Conduct for cadres, civil servants, public employees, and other employees in agencies and units of Hanoi city; Strengthening the management, renovation and embellishment of historical, cultural, and scenic relics in order to conserve and promote the potentials and features of Vietnamese culture in general and Thang Long – Hanoi culture in particular; Focusing on development of mass sports, especially physical training and sports at schools, as a basis for improving stature and physical fitness of people in the future and as a place for selecting, training and fostering high-achievement sports talents; Preparing facilities and athletes for organization and competition at SEA games 31 and Para Games 11 in 2021, as well as National Team’s athletes for competition at the 30th Olympic Games in Japan.

At the Conference, with the aim of developing and making the capital’s culture and sports career into a resource and driving force for socio-economic development, Mr. To Van Dong, the Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports launched the emulation movement 2021 in the whole industry that focus on: Formulating specific plans in line with the assigned political and professional tasks; Strictly complying with discipline, administrative hierarchy, civil service discipline, internal rules, working regulations, work settlement and handling process; Continuing to carry out administrative reform, information technology application; Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of state management, inspection, examination, overcoming problems, and accomplishing socio-economic development targets in 2021 in the management fields of the industry; Each officer, civil servant, public employee, and employee in the Culture and Sports Industry of the Capital should seriously implement 02 codes of conduct in Hanoi to be the example for employees in agencies, units and residents in the Capital.

In 2021, the year when many important political events of the country take place, and the year when Hanoi chooses the working theme of “Discipline – Responsibility – Action – Creativeness – Development”, with the creativeness, working manner and style renovation, and effort, the Capital’s Culture and Sports Industry is determined to achieve the targets and accomplish tasks in 2021 to increasingly develop the cultural cause, build an image of elegant and civilized Hanoians, and constantly develop Hanoi sports, bringing glory to the country and the Capital.
At the Conference, the Organizing Committee awarded emulation flags and certificates of merit of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to 12 teams and 4 individuals who had outstanding achievements in building and organizing local culture & sports activities in 2020, and award emulation flags and certificates of merit of the Chairman of Hanoi City People’s Committee to 19 teams and 6 individuals in culture & sports industry who had outstanding achievements in 2020.
