Reporting at the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh, the Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports said that, in the first four months of 2020, the Department has implemented the Industry Work Plan in the context of the outbreak and spread of COVID-19 pandemic all over the world, including Vietnam, affecting and interrupting many cultural and sports activities in the city. However, with the efforts and determination to drastically prevent and control the pandemic in combination with the implementation of the assigned political and professional tasks, positive results have been achieved. To be specific, COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control works have been strictly implemented by the Department as directed by the Prime Minister, the City Party Committee and the City People’s Committee; the congress of 32 out of 32 Party cells was organized; 1 Party Committee of the Sports Training and Competition Center in Hanoi for the term 2020 – 2025; the administrative reform index of the Department continues to increase, ranking the 8th among 22 departments of the city.
Mr. To Van Dong, the Director of Department of Culture and Sports, is pointing out some difficulties and problems that need to be solved by affiliated units in the pandemic context.
State management has been strengthened. In the management fields of the Industry, there have been basically no pressing issues causing frustration in public opinion. The advisory work for the Steering Committee of Program 04-CTr/TU of the City Party Committee has been actively carried out. Activities and events to celebrate the great holidays of the country and the capital were successfully held. Hanoi Museum exhibition project has been accelerated. Hanoi Sports Team won 19 medals in international competitions. SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 in 2021 in Vietnam was well prepared.
Also at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee received the recommendations and proposals from units under the Department of Culture and Sports, especially financially autonomous units, with respect to difficulties and problems encountered during the pandemic time.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ngo Van Quy, the Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee highly appreciated the Department of Culture and Sports for actively and creatively implementing the tasks assigned by the city in the first 4 months of 2020. The Vice Chairman has directed relevant departments, agencies, and authorities to jointly solve and address the difficulties and problems of units in accordance with regulations. Regarding some key tasks in the coming time, the Vice Chairman emphasized that the Department of Culture and Sports should continue to take measures to prevent and control COVID-19 pandemic; review targets in 2020 to ensure completion of the proposed plan; advise the City People’s Committee in organizing visual propaganda, cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the great holidays of the country and the capital in an efficient, solemn but economical manner.

The Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee assigned the Department to research and advise the Steering Committee of Program 04-CTr/TU of the City Party Committee in selecting some key contents in the Program that need to be implemented in 2020; to collaborate with departments and branches of the City in proposing mechanisms for restoration and embellishment of relics in districts and towns; to focus on preparing facilities and athletes force for SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11 in 2021 in Vietnam; to speed up Hanoi Museum exhibition project; to review and implement the contents and tasks in the City People’s Committee’s 2020 Work Program and Action Program in accordance with schedule and plan.
