To spread the love of music to children and parents who love Piano in the Capital area in particular and the whole country in general, and introduce widely the image of Hanoi College of Arts; discover and foster musical talent incubation towards professionalism and methodically for amateur Piano students nationwide, the Hanoi College of Art organized the Hanoi Piano Art Contest 2021 for all candidates who are not studying Piano at music schools across the country are from 6-25 years old.
The contest was started in May 2021 and received a lot of attention from young music lovers. The contest promises to bring a lot of fun and excitement to the participants even though it is held online to ensure safety during the Covid-19 pandemic. The official exam will be held from July 28-31, 2021 with 2 rounds: preliminary and final.
Participating in the competition are contestants from 4 groups divided by age: Group A for ages 6-8; Group B for ages 9-12; Group C for ages 13-17; Group D for ages 18-25.
The requirement for candidates is that all exams are in the classical music genre, not using genres such as classical compositions, Jazz, blue, semi-classical, light music, Broadway. When presenting, the test candidates do not use music in any form.
For Group A, it is held with only one round, each contestant presented two different electives in terms of genre.
Group B has two rounds of competition: preliminary and final, with a maximum of 8 minutes. The general rule for both rounds is that the Contestant will present 02 different items in different genres. Particularly for the Final Round, candidates are allowed to reuse the item of the preliminary round.
Groups C and D are organized 02 rounds, maximum 10 minutes. With the preliminary round, candidates can choose 02 different items in genre. In the final round, candidates can choose 02 songs, of which 01 song is chapter 1 or chapter 2-3 Sonatine or Sonata or variation. Candidates can reuse the item of the preliminary round.
Participating in the judging are 5 judges including the most prestigious piano professors, doctors, and instructors in Vietnam: Prof. Dr., People’s Teacher, Tran Thu Ha – Former Director of the Vietnam National Academy Of Music; Dr. Dao Trong Tuyen, Dean of Piano Department, Vietnam National Academy of Music; MA. Sc. Hoang Huong Lan, Deputy Director of Training & Event Center, Hanoi College of Art; MA. Sc. Nguyen Minh Le, Piano Lecturer at Hanoi College of Art; MA. Sc. Nguyen Thi My Dung, Piano Lecturer at Hanoi College of Art.
Although only held online to ensure the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hanoi Piano Art Contest 2021 also attracted a large number of students from many provinces and cities across the country to register to attend such as: Ha Noi, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nha Trang…
The Organizing Committee said that they will award the first, second, third and consolation prizes for each contest table. All contestants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Notably, the Organizing Committee will award a special prize of the contest which is a new German Bremen Bm363 electric piano of VND 16 million sponsored by Hanoi Piano Instrument Export & Trading Co., Ltd. for the most deserving contestant. In addition, the candidates who won the first – second – third prizes will be directly recruited to study in the Piano major at Hanoi College of Art in the academic year 2021-2022 if they meet the criteria set by the school.
