The training conference was held online at Hanoi bridge point and 150 bridge points of 63 provinces/cities across the country. At the Hanoi Bridge, there was Mr. Pham Quoc Hung – Director of the Library Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Doan Quynh Dung – Deputy Director of Library Department; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung – Deputy Director of the National Library of Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi – Chairman of Vietnam Library Association; Mr. Chu Minh Hoan – Deputy Director of Vietnam Institute of Software Industry and Digital Content, Ministry of Information and Communications, representatives of a number of specialized libraries and libraries of universities/academies.
At 150 bridge points, more than 300 delegates were attended by leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism; The Department’s civil servants are assigned to monitor library work; leaders and professional staff of the provincial public library system.
Currently, digital transformation is being viewed as a “golden opportunity” for many industries and fields, including the library industry. The Government’s approval of the Program on Digital Transformation of the Library Industry by 2025 is considered a breakthrough in this field to serve library users. Localities and library systems are actively organizing digital transformation activities. Therefore, to contribute to improving the digital transformation capacity of libraries, at this training conference, the rapporteurs will present contents related to: Overview of Digital Transformation – Contents basics of Digital Transformation; Basic issues in digital transformation and digitization of library documents; Opportunities and challenges for digital transformation in library operations in Vietnam; Basic content in building and managing digital libraries.
The training conference will help library leaders and staff have full awareness as well as skills in organizing activities to strongly and comprehensively apply digital technology in the library field, contributing to improving the operational capacity of libraries, forming a modern library network; ensuring service provision, meeting the needs of users; ensuring service provision, meeting the needs of users; attracting a large number of people to pay attention to and using library services, contributing to raising people’s intellectual level and building a learning society.
