On the evening of September 25, 2022, the 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 was officially opened at Dai Nam Theater, Hanoi.

The Capital Theater Festival is an activity organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports every two years.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Thi My Hoa – Head of the Festival Organizing Committee said: The 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 is a professional activity praising theatrical units not only of the capital. The works participating in the festival are of high artistic quality, bearing the traditional ideological value of the nation, honoring the qualities of Hanoians.

People’s Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, Chairman of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association – Co-Head of the Festival Organizing Committee affirmed: Following the success of the previous four times, the 5th Capital Theater Festival – 2022 continues to be an eventful professional activity, a gathering of theater art units to create opportunities to exchange experiences among art troupes, thereby constantly improving professional qualifications, building works of high ideological value and artistic quality, meeting the expectations of the audience in the trend of integration and development.

The 5th Capital Theater Festival- 2022 has participants from 13 art units with 13 theatrical works in various genres such as drama, cheo, cai luong, circus, etc. These plays are: “Trung Trinh liet nu” (Hanoi Cheo Theatre); “Thuy Kieu – Mot kiep doan truong” (Hanoi Drama Theater); “Troi Nam” (Hanoi Cai Luong Theater); “Ha Noi thanh pho cua nhung uoc mo” (Hanoi Theater of Circus and Variety Arts); “Song dung Lo Giang”(Army Cheo Theater); “Bat tu voi Thang Long” (Vietnam Cai Luong Theater); “Mua do” (Army Drama Theater); “Dem truoc ngay hoang dao” (Song Viet Performance Organizing Company Limited); “An tinh” (Hồ Chí Minh City Stage Association); “Cau hat tim nhau” (Sen Viet Stage); “Hoa cuc nha troi” (Military University of Culture and Arts); “Vuong quyen – Vu an Tong Thi Quyen” (Thang Long Performing Arts Division- Hanoi Stage Association); “Huyen tich Chua Mot Cot” (Le Ngoc Stage).
After the opening ceremony, the Hanoi Cheo Theater opened the festival with a cheo play on a historical theme called “Trung Trinh liet nu” (Scriptwriter: Tran Hong Van; Cheo adaptation: Mai Van Sinh; Director: People’s Artist Hoang Quynh).

The 5th Capital Theater Festival- 2022 will take place from September 25 to October 2, 2022 and is free to serve theater-loving audiences at theaters in the city such as: Dai Nam Theater, Cong Nhan Theater, Military Cheo Theater, Military Theater, Military University of Culture and Arts.
The awards ceremony and closing ceremony took place on the evening of October 2, 2022 at Dai Nam Theater, Hanoi.
