Hanoi is ready for the 6th Hanoi International Film Festival

The 6th Hanoi International Film Festival (the 6th HIFF) will be held from 8 to 12 November, 2022 according to Decision No. 1648/QD-BVHTTDL dated July 18, 2022 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The 6th HIFF is chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and coordinated with the Hanoi People’s Committee..

The 6th Hanoi International Film Festival (the 6th HIFF) will be held from 8 to 12 November, 2022 according to Decision No. 1648/QD-BVHTTDL dated July 18, 2022 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The 6th HIFF is chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and coordinated with the Hanoi People’s Committee to direct the Cinema Department, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and other authorities and organizations to hold the festival.

Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports is assigned to organize the following activities: promoting festival in public places and cinemas, welcoming guests to visit the sites and landscapes of Hanoi, organize talks with movie stars, etc.

At the press conference this afternoon, regarding to the preparation for the opening ceremony of the 6th HIFF, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Mr.Pham Xuan Tai said that Hanoi has prepared the necessary facilities to ensure the security and safety for the Film Festival.

He said: “Hanoi is honored to be chosen as the venue for the 6th HIFF. Aware of the significance of the Film Festival, Hanoi People’s Committee has assigned the tasks and required the related authorities and units to coordinate with the Organizing Committee in the preparation of facilities, security and safety for the film festival. The Department of Culture and Sports has deployed outdoor promotion of the film festival and built a visual promotion plan in Hanoi. It directed theaters under the Department to prepare the best facilities for delegates and audiences. The Department of Culture and Sports will welcome delegates and invite them to visit the famous destinations during the film festival. It will coordinate with the Cinema Department to organize talks between representatives from other countries and capital people and outdoor cinemas. It will in charge of advice the Hanoi People’s Committee to award films with content that contribute to the development of the City. With the meaning and importance of the Film Festival, the departments and sectors will coordinate closely and carefully to make the Film Festival successful and achieve the best results, etc. Hanoi expects that the delegates will have an perfect impression of a peaceful, hospitable and beautiful city”.

In the framework of the film festival, in addition to watching works from 56 countries and territories at cinemas in Hanoi and Bac Ninh city, the audience also can enjoy an outdoor movie screening at the Hoan Kiem Lake – Martyrs’ Monument in walking street with 8 films in the categories such as documentaries, animations, and films.

Mr. Pham Xuan Tai added that there will be 200 seats for delegates and audiences at the outdoor movie screening. Currently, the city has a plan to ensure the traffic and event’s security.

With the slogan “Cinema – Humanity, Adaptation and Development”, the 6th HIFF took place from 8 to 12 November in Hanoi with presentation of 123 films from 56 countries and territories. In which, there are 31 films participating in the contest, the others shown in the Panorama Program, the Korean Cinema Spotlight Program and Vietnamese Films participating in the festival. In addition, there is also the exhibition of “The filming scene is Hanoi’s historical sites and cultural heritages”, introducing more than 200 images from Vietnamese movies filmed in Hanoi and Hanoi historical sites and cultural heritages. There will be 2 seminars with theme of: “Korea Cinema Highlights” and “Cinema – Connecting and spreading cultural values”.

The film “Jasmine” by Director – People’s Artist Dang Nhat Minh will participate feature-length film program in the contest.

Vietnamese cinema has 45 films participating in the Film Program. The film “Jasmine” by Director – People’s Artist Dang Nhat Minh is a feature-length film of Vietnam, also the opening film of the festival. Vietnamese cinema also has 4 other short films including Light of Children, Grandmother of Do Do, Beautiful Life, and Mist.

The festival was attended by about 800 domestic and international guests and delegates, including nearly 70 delegates who are working in cinema industry and international film artists. Delegates will visit some historial sites and landscapes in Hanoi such as Ngoc Son Temple, Water Puppetry at Thang Long Puppet Theater and Dong Ho painting village, Bac Ninh.

The opening and closing ceremony – Awarding ceremony of the 6th Hanoi International Film Festival Award will be held at the Cultural Friendship Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi. The opening ceremony will be live broadcast at 8 pm on November 8 on Hanoi Radio and Television Station (HTV1); Closing Ceremony – Awarding ceremony will be live broadcast on Vietnam Television (VTV2) at 8pm on November 12, 2022.
