According to ancient tales “Than Tich – Than Sac”, the communal house of Vong La fishing village worshiped the three great kings which are Linh Khon King, Minh Chieu King and Cung Muc King. The Three Great Kings have made great contributions to the people and the country. They followed Tan Vien Son God and led the people of Vong La and the local people to fight against foreign invaders. After the country was peaceful, they all went away. The the local people built shrines to worship them, and then honored them as “Thanh Hoang Lang” (tutelary gods), and eternally worship them. The kings of the feudal period had conferred the title of Thuong Dang Toi Linh Ton Than (Supreme Sacred Gods). To show respect to the gods and based on the local people’s wishes, Vong La has organized a number of scientific conferences on positions, roles and merits of the tutelary gods with the participation of leading professors and doctors. The following meetings have been agreed upon and contributed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Culture and Information Department of Dong Anh district. Consequently, the idea of reconstructing the ancient communal house with the great communal house and the ancestral house, four curved corners, decorated with dragon scrolls, unicorns, and roofs covered with dragons and the moon, stemmed from those meetings.
After one year of construction, Vong La village’s communal house had been completed with a total cost of VND 4.8 billion. The capital of Vong La village was VND 1,053,000,000 and the rest was merit money and donated by the local people and visitors. The communal house was built on a campus with a total area of 600m2, of which the great communal house and auxiliary structures was 205m2. On March 27, 2022, Dong Anh district celebrated an inauguration of Vong La village communal house.
The inauguration of the communal house is meaningful and create a chance for the local people to show gratitude for the ancestors, love for the homeland and the country, and preserve the traditional cultural values of the nation.
