Bat Trang Museum has been featured on Google Arts & Culture, a global digital platform dedicated to culture and the arts. This recognition positions it among the few museums in Vietnam currently showcased on this platform.

Making its debut on Google Arts & Culture, Bat Trang Museum displays images of over 30 artifacts created by the late People’s Artisan Vu Thang, who dedicated nearly 50 years to the traditional craft of pottery. Among the highlights is a collection of landscape paintings representing the three regions of Vietnam, a pair of dragon-adorned vases commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi, and notably, twelve ceramic shoes that gained acclaim during the exhibition “The Ceramic Shoes of Bat Trang.” Following a distinctive pottery style, the late artisan’s works feature a unique technique of layered glazing that captures the spirit of the times and showcases his individual creativity.

Outstanding works by the late People’s Artisan Vu Thang are introduced on the Google Arts & Culture page of Bat Trang Museum.

In addition to showcasing the artifacts and one-of-a-kind pottery pieces by the late People’s Artisan Vu Thang, the platform shares numerous stories about the craft of pottery, as well as the culture and people of Bat Trang. This includes a selection of rarely-seen photographs of the ancient village, captured by photographer Lam Truc Quynh.

Founded by the late People’s Artisan Vu Thang, Bat Trang Museum is the first privately-owned museum to be granted operational permission in the pottery village of Bat Trang since 2016. The museum displays a collection of traditional Bat Trang pottery from the 18th to 19th centuries and early 20th century, meticulously gathered by Vu Thang, alongside many of his original works created throughout his lifetime.

Google Arts & Culture is a leading digital platform for culture, art, history, and the wonders of the world. Since 2011, it has partnered with over 3,000 cultural organizations across 80 countries, featuring more than 100,000 artworks, including architectural works, sculptures, and paintings, thus continuously enriching the vast repository of cultural heritage for a global audience.

In Vietnam, since 2021, the General Department of Tourism has collaborated with Google Arts & Culture to showcase Vietnam’s wonders, culture, and art on this global heritage platform. Notable projects include the “Vietnamese Cultural Wonders,” featuring the Son Doong Cave system and the Trang An Landscape Complex.
