The 8th Long Bien Marathon in 2024 saw the participation of over 15,000 athletes from across the country. Competitors took part in four race categories: the Marathon (42.195km), the Half Marathon (21.1km), the Long Bien Garmin Run 10km, and the Long Bien Garmin Run Milestone 5km.
Starting at 3:00 AM from Vincom Plaza Long Bien (Chu Huy Man Street, Phuc Loi Ward, Long Bien District, Hanoi), more than 15,000 athletes stepped out, experiencing the meticulously designed running routes of Long Bien District.
Athletes were immersed in the sight of modern landmarks along the route, passing through fields of white reeds and the vibrant murals on the Long Bien – Xuan Quan dyke. They also encountered historic and sacred monuments that reflect the rich heritage of Long Bien District.

Over the past seven years, the Long Bien Marathon route has been continually refined and certified by the International Marathon Association (AIMS). Athletes can use their Long Bien Marathon results to qualify for six prestigious races worldwide in the Abbott World Marathon Majors series.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Long Bien District People’s Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee, praised the dedicated efforts of the organizing team. She also expressed gratitude to the individuals and organizations who have supported the marathon over the past eight years, making it a highly impressive, humane, and professional event.

Through this race, Long Bien District has successfully showcased its vibrant image of “Convergence – Flourishing – Towards the Future” to both domestic and international friends.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang also thanked the organizers for their support, particularly through the funding that has helped improve the quality of cultural and sports activities in Long Bien.

Following outstanding performances from athletes demonstrating strong sportsmanship, humanitarian spirit, and a sense of unity, the Long Bien Marathon 2024 was a great success. Leaders from the General Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture and Sports), Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Long Bien District, and the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to top male and female athletes in all four categories.
In addition to the regular prizes, the Organizing Committee presented a special award to Pham Tien San, who broke his own record in the Long Bien Marathon, with a reward of VND 50 million.

The Organizing Committee believes that all participants in the Long Bien Marathon 2024 have not only conquered the race but also surpassed their own limits, becoming an inspiration for themselves, their families, and society. The event promises to bring success to future editions of the marathon.
