The play Historical Romance of Dong A revolves around historical themes and the romantic love story between Princess Thien Thanh and King Tran Thai Tong.
The script is written by Meritorious Artist Trinh Quang Khanh, adapted for cai luong by Nguyen Duc Minh, and directed by People’s Artist Trinh Thuy Mui. The music is composed by Meritorious Artist Tuan Hai, choreography by Meritorious Artist Hoai Anh, and stage design by People’s Artist Dat Tang.
The play features performances by artists and actors including Ngan Hien as Princess Thien Thanh, Nhat Linh as Tran Quoc Tuan, Meritorious Artists Hong Nhung and Kim Dung as Queen Thuan Thien, Meritorious Artist Hoang Vien as King Tran Thai Tong, Meritorious Artist Kim Dung as Princess Thuy Ba, Meritorious Artist Quang Tuan as Nhan Dao Vuong, Artist Huu Nhan as Trung Thanh Vuong, Artist Quang Huy as Prince Tran Nhat Hieu, Artist Thu Huong as the maid Tam Tam, and Artist Quang Hung as the eunuch, among others. The play also involves the dance group, staff, and technical crew of the Hanoi Cai Luong Theater.
During the inauguration ceremony, the theater’s collective listened to directives from the theater’s management, the director, and the playwright about the new production. The performance organization and artistic departments also discussed the preparation and rehearsal progress for the new play.
