“Green Weekend” is a specific and practical activity aimed at raising awareness, responsibility, and action among officials, women’s union members, and every resident in Thuong Tin district to join the 2025 emulation movement “Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful” launched by the Hanoi Women’s Union.
The Women’s Union of Thuong Tin district has directed the Women’s Unions of communes and towns to launch, propagate, and mobilize officials, women’s union members, and the public to simultaneously carry out comprehensive cleaning across the entire district. Each month, at least one day is focused on a Saturday or Sunday prior to national holidays, capital commemorative events, or union anniversaries.
Accordingly, the Women’s Unions of communes and towns in Thuong Tin district regularly organize coordinated environmental sanitation campaigns under the “Green Weekend”. Through these efforts, they contribute to building a clean, sustainable living

Officials, women’s union members, and women in Thuong Tin have simultaneously swept and cleaned roads in residential areas, collected and disposed of waste according to regulations, cleared bushes, pruned trees, maintained flower-lined streets, and sustained the “Civilized Garbage Station” model to jointly protect the environment. At the same time, they propagated and encouraged residents to dispose of household waste at the correct times and designated places, ensuring hygiene in living spaces and surrounding areas.
In celebration of major holidays in April and May 2025, thousands of officials and women’s union members across Thuong Tin district carried out comprehensive environmental cleaning. Activities focused on clearing and handling illegal waste collection points, unblocking drains and canals, cleaning the surroundings of houses, and implementing the “three cleans” (clean house, clean kitchen, clean yard). Within a single morning, various types of waste were collected, concentrated, and transported for proper disposal according to regulations.
The “Green Weekend” activity of the Women’s Union of Thuong Tin district has affirmed and promoted the core role and exemplary spirit of officials and women’s union members in propagating, mobilizing, and calling on residents to change habits to protect the environment, avoid littering, use environmentally friendly products, and actively collect, sort, and process household waste. As a result, it contributes to improving the landscape and environment – making it bright, green, clean, and beautiful – and enhances the quality of life.
