The Hanoi Food and Culture Festival 2025 is set to be an exciting weekend destination, featuring around 60 booths showcasing Hanoi cuisine alongside specialties from several other localities.
Held under the theme “Hanoi – A Culinary Journey Connecting Creativity,” the festival will take place from the evening of December 19 through December 21 at Thong Nhat Park.
A highlight of the opening ceremony will be the official announcement by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognizing the knowledge and practices of preparing and enjoying Cha Ca La Vong (Hanoi) as part of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Speaking at the press briefing, Ms. Le Thi Anh Mai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, emphasized that recognition of intangible cultural heritage not only honors traditional values but also serves as an effective approach to safeguarding, promoting, and transforming heritage into long-term assets and resources for cultural industry development, thereby contributing to improved local livelihoods.

Beyond heritage promotion, the festival offers a wide range of culinary experiences that seamlessly combine tasting, learning, and hands-on participation.
The festival grounds will host approximately 60 food booths, highlighting Hanoi’s culinary heritage and reinforcing the brand of “Hanoi Cuisine”, refined, elegant, and deeply rooted in cultural identity.
At the heart of the festival is the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Culinary Space, introducing Hanoi’s recognized culinary heritages such as Me Tri green rice flakes, Hanoi pho, Thanh Tri steamed rice rolls, West Lake lotus tea, Phu Thuong sticky rice, Cha Ca La Vong, and the Bat Trang ceremonial feast tradition.
The Hanoi Delicacies Space recreates the refined culinary lifestyle of the Trang An people, featuring familiar favorites like bun cha, West Lake shrimp cakes, Phu Thuong sweet soup, Uoc Le pork rolls, and Phung spring rolls. A recreated Old Quarter setting combines live cooking, artisan interaction, and the “Hanoi Gifts” area showcasing packaged food products for tourism.

Hands-on heritage experience areas allow visitors to participate directly in activities such as wrapping chung cakes, steaming rice rolls, making candied fruits, preserved plums, and traditional rice cakes. The Vietnamese Tea Aroma Space presents the journey of tea-making, live tea-brewing demonstrations by artisans, and showcases signature tea varieties, offering insight into traditional Vietnamese tea culture.
In addition to culinary experiences, the festival features a mobile book exhibition and a photo exhibition area, expanding access to knowledge on culture, arts, tourism, and gastronomy, and completing a holistic cultural experience where food appreciation is intertwined with heritage narratives and spiritual values.
The Hanoi Food and Culture Festival is an annual event organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports under the direction of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Since 2022, Hanoi has implemented Resolution No. 09 on cultural industry development (2021–2025), with a vision to 2030 and 2045, identifying cuisine as a key driver of cultural industry growth.
Currently, Hanoi has seven culinary heritages recognized at the national level, including Hanoi pho; Me Tri green rice flakes; Quang An lotus tea; Phu Thuong sticky rice; Thanh Tri steamed rice rolls; and the Bat Trang ceremonial feast tradition.
