At the get-together, held on the morning of 18 February, with the circle of writers, artists and intellectuals of the Capital who are the members of Ha Noi Cultural and Artistic Union, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the Municipal Party, Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee stated that Ha Noi city would be planning to construct a lotus-symbol multi-function theatre, an opera house in the West lake, renovation of the “horizontal Eiffel tower ò Viet Nam”, ect… in order to create additional cultural emphasis in service of the public.
He also added out of 51 flagship projects on the pineline, there were 6 ones in the area of culture. In the coming time, the city would be buiding the Lotus theatre located at the complex of park and equable lake in Cau Giay newly built residential city. This was the multi-function theatre designed by an Australian architect, with 54 metres high and 5 lotuses, a multi-function performing area of international standard, and a start-up centre.
He went further that according to the French experts, Ha Noi was now possessing a number of works bearing special historic values, and the Long Bien bridge was the “horizontal Eiffel tower of Viet Nam”. Ha Noi would soon conduct a study to rehabilitate the areas starting from the bridge down to Phung Hung street for displaying cultural products and arts works which would be linked to the space of the old street quarter so as to give more cultural emphasis. Furthermore, the city would be readjust the masterplan of the West lake and building the world standard opera house there, and Ha Noi would have additional cultural emphasis for the public
The city would be vey much pleased to place an order with the writer, artists, intellectuals to provide cultural, artistic programmes of significant practicality. He expressed the wishes that the members of Ha Noi Cultural and Artistic Union would continue going along with the city’s efforts in building Ha Noi, especially in preservation, conservation of the cultural values.

Also at the meeting, Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung presented to the city’s the writers, artists, intellectuals the status of cocio-economic developments of Ha Noi. According to the report, the administration agencies from the central city down to the district and ward levels had been witnessing positive changes, with many effective job amount done and clear objectives identified: That was to consider people and business as the service oriented targets. Thanks to that, the city’s GDP volume in 2016 had been able to record the highest rate of 8.2 per cent nationally; the budget income outpaced the estimation; the cosical welfare were maintained.
In order to raise people’s living standards, Ha Noi had grown more trees, treated environmental polutions, renewed the healthcare, developed the high-tech centre of Euro-standards to check digestive cancers for the entire city people, invested and reabilitated a large number of hospitals, intensively educated doctors and nurses, and would soon to complete a system of health track records for every one in the city in 2017.
