On the morning 0f 20 April 2017, Ha Noi Library held the “Let’s read books together” programme and a display to introduce “Ho Chi Minh awarded works” on the occassion of Viet Nam Books Day celebration – 21 April and in response of World Book and Copyrights Day – 23 April23 April.
The “Let’s read books together” programme ebulliently took place with the participation of teachers and pupils from the basic secondary school of Trung Vuong and primary school of Quang Trung, Ha Noi. Through the book reading session, Ha Noi Library created an useful playground to kid readers, helping them explore the treasure of huge knowledge of the mandkind, contributing to enhance and nurture their personality, at the same time to maintain and develop kids’s reading culture.

At the event, Ha Noi Library introduced to the pupils the works on Ho Chi Minh, notably: Novel titled “Green lotus bud” by Son Tung writer; collection of poems titled “Following Uncle Ho’s footsteps” by To Huu; picture book titled “Stories of Uncle Ho” … Pupils also had a chance to gain access to the famous literature works of Viet Nam and foreign countries written exclusively to childen, together with a diversity of book types of natural and social sciences. Apart from the book reading activities, teachers and pupils joined in playing an intellectual games called “Identifying works” through images and puzzles relating to the well known works prevailing in Viet Nam and the world.

Aside with the “Let’s read books together” programme in favour of the pupils, the Library of Ha Noi carried out the displaying activity of “Ho Chi Minh awarded works” at the theme reading room. Readers would be able to find a collection of the works which had been honoured to obtain Ho Chi Minh awards in literature and arts made by a number of famous writers such as Hoai Thanh, Huy Can, Che Lan vien, Nguyen Tuan, Nguyen Cong Hoan,..
Ho Chi Minh awarded works on display
On 24 February 2014, the Prime Minister signed the Decision No. 284/QD-TTG, taking the date of 21st April annually as the Book Day of Viet Nam, with the aim to encourage and develop the book reading movement among the community, enhancing the awareness of the importance of book readings in the process of skill and thought development, personality education and exercise. The United Nations had chosen the date of 23rd April to celebrate the World Book and Copyrights Day with a view to honouring the values of books and writers’ contribution for having given birth many invaluable works to the mandkind.
