Since its establishment nearly 20 years ago, Cau Giay District has gained remarkable results in socio-economic development. The district’s study promotion and talent promotion programs have also achieved extensive development, delivering outstanding outcomes in terms of both organization and operation and becoming one of the highlights of the capital city.

The highlights and also foundation for the study and talent promotion movements in Cau Giay District is the establishment and successful maintenance of study promotion models in several clans and families. All clans in the district have study promotion boards. These boards are all hands-on and creative in organizing activities to motivate and encourage the learning of the youth, actively contributing to the cause of education and training of the district. Among the prominent study promotion models are the Nguyen Nhu Uyen clan in Yen Hoa Ward, the Nguyen Duc clan in Nghia Do Ward, the Do Duc clan in Mai Dich Ward, the Dang clan in Quan Hoa Ward, and the Nguyen Xuan clan in Dich Vong clan. These clans have some things in common, the study promotion funds actively contributed by clan members and the regularly gift giving activities regularly carried out to encourage academic success. The clans all organize their yearly study promotion days to revisit the tradition, honor the good examples, and share experiences among the clans’ families to further promote academic achievements.

Along with the study promotion models within the clans, the family models are also active. Since 2007, the district has had 149,541 families registering for the “Studious Family” title, accounting for 70% of the total households. Of which, 4,356 titles have been awarded at ward level.
Through practical activities, the study and talent promotion movements have had positive impacts on the district’s academic achievements. On average, Cau Giay District has nearly 200 students winning prizes in national and international contests and thousands of students getting accepted to top universities every year. Study promotion boards of the district and wards annually joint with the Vietnam Fatherland Front committees and other departments and unions at all levels in rewarding and awarding scholarships to poor students with good and outstanding achievements in learning, students winning international and national prizes, and students scoring the highest in the entrance exams to universities with a total award value exceeding VND 1 billion. At the end of the school year 2016-2017, the district had had 100% of grade-5 students completing elementary education program and 99.8% of grade-9 students completing secondary education program (70.1% of which graduated with merits), won 14 international prizes, 96 national prizes, and 352 city prizes (an increase of 35 prizes in comparison with the previous school year) at various Math and English exams. In addition, the district’s students also obtained many achievements in competitions in the fields of culture and art as shown in 1 international prize, 2 national prizes, and 11 city prizes throughout the year. In the field of sports, the district won 9 medals in the Southeast Asian Chess Championship and 33 other national prizes, and topped the city with 56 medals in local tournaments.
With a scientific and methodical way of implementing, the study and talent promotion movements in Cau Giay District have achieved encouraging results, actively contributing to the comprehensive development of the district. Earlier this year, the district’s Study Promotion Board was honored with a Third Class Labor Order.
