The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the exhibition was held at the Hanoi Museum. The exhibition features 63 paintings by artist Ngo Ba Hoang – Head of the Mural Painting Department at the University of Industrial Fine Arts. The paintings are arranged in a continuous composition, forming an impressive overall panorama. Using vivid realism, Ngo Ba Hoang praises the beauty of the country from North to South, expressing love and pride for the homeland, the nation, its people, and the cultural diversity of Vietnam in a work of grand scale.
The series consists of 63 paintings arranged continuously, forming a spectacular 300-meter-long work. The paintings employ a realistic style with bright color harmonies reflecting the characteristics of each region. The artist uses continuous, simultaneous, and symbolic compositions across multiple spaces and times, creating harmony, rich and diverse transitions, yet a unified whole –these are hallmark techniques of Mural Painting.
Sharing about the exhibition, artist Ngo Ba Hoang expressed: “With this painting series, I hope every Vietnamese, especially the younger generation, will better understand, love, and take pride in their homeland and country. At the same time, I also hope that monumental painting – a field we teach and develop – will be widely appreciated and loved by the public.”
Painter Ngo Ba HoanIn 2024, Ngo Ba Hoang began sketching the painting “Hello Vietnam – My Homeland” and, with the support of more than 40 collaborators, including artists and students specializing in Mural Painting at the University of Industrial Fine Arts, embarked on an inspiring artistic journey, creating this series on large canvases using acrylic paint. The artist is not merely producing a series of paintings but composing a monumental visual epic about the homeland. With a height of 1.8 meters and a total length of over 300 meters, the series unfolds like a long silk ribbon, depicting Vietnam from Lung Cu – Ha Giang to Dat Mui – Ca Mau. Each brushstroke not only recreates the grandeur of nature but also celebrates the cultural identity and people of Vietnam across its regions.
The paintings honor the cultural identity and people of Vietnam through each region of the country. The exhibition aims to educate the public on patriotic traditions, the spirit of great unity, the aspiration for peace, and national pride; to express deep gratitude to generations who sacrificed their lives for national independence and unity; and to affirm determination in the cause of national construction and defense. At the same time, the exhibition creates a rich emotional artistic space for the public and art enthusiasts to observe, experience, and interact, thereby contributing to the promotion and enrichment of the cultural and artistic life of the community.
