At the meeting, the Department of Mass Sports reported on the preparation and specific plan for time and venue of the competition subjects. As scheduled, ASEAN Para Games 11 will open by December 14 and close by December 21, 2021, after SEA Games 31 will end by December 2, which is consistent with the general practice of the Games.
As expected, ASEAN Para Games 11 with 6,000 participants from 11 countries in Southeast Asia.
ASEAN Para Games 11 mainly takes place in Hanoi with 6,000 participants of from 11 countries in Southeast Asia. The Para Games 11 is expected to have 14 sports subjects including Athletics, Swimming, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Boccia, Tennis, Visually impaired judo, Visually impaired football with a team of 5, Basketball, Sitting volleyball, Ball rolling for blind people and Archery.
The venues are mainly in Hanoi, such as My Dinh Stadium for Athletics, Water Sports Stadium for swimming, Cau Giay Stadium for Badminton, Bac Tu Liem District Stadium for Table tennis, Cultural House and Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center for Weightlifting, Women’s Development Center for Chess, Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center for Tennis, Dan Phuong district stadium for Archery, and Thanh Tri district Stadium for Basketball.
5 specific sports will be held in the venues as follows: Dan Phuong District Stadium for Boccia; Quan Ngua Stadium for Visually impaired football with a team of 5; Ha Dong District Stadium for Ball rolling for blind people; Tay Ho District Stadium for Sitting volleyball.
According to the report, in addition to nine sub-committees set up by the organizing committee of the SEA Games 31 and Paragames 11, ASEAN Paragames 11 will set up an additional Technical Central Committee and the Para Games Standing Committee to address issues on logistics, preparation, organization and surveying and so on. This is also the wish of Mr. Vu The Phiet – Vice Chairman and General Secretary of Vietnam Sports Association for Disabled Athletes at the meeting.
At the meeting, Deputy General Director Nguyen Hong Minh suggested that the Department of Mass Sports should review the entire plan and expected content of each subject, revise funding for organizing the Games, coordinate with the Association in formulating plans and specific tasks for each unit, at the same time, pay attention to the sports that Vietnam has never participated for effective of the organization work.
It is expected that the Conference of the Heads of the Disabled Sports delegations will take place by May 2021.
