Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Giao, the Director of the Ba Vi District Center for Culture, Sports, and Information, highlighted that in recent years, health training activities have attracted a large number of elderly people in Ba Vi. All 31 communes and towns in the district have developed sports clubs for the elderly, with more than 80% of the elderly participating in regular physical exercise. The Festival provides a valuable opportunity and occasion for the elderly in the district to participate in activities and engage with one another and for the elderly from different communities and towns to meet, connect, share, and understand each other more and more, thereby upholding traditions and human values.

The 2024 Elderly Cultural and Sports Festival ‘For the Development and Growth of the Capital’ took place over three days, from October 25 to 27. Athletes competed in 5 events across six events: men’s slight volleyball, women’s slight volleyball, Chinese chess, badminton, table tennis, and an optional freestyle sports performance.
