In 2024, Ba Vi district sets a target that 95% of weddings civilized lifestyles (striving to organize tea party wedding models); 95% of funerals implementing civilized lifestyles, civilized funerals (cremation before the funeral). 100% of longevity celebrations and festivals in the area are organized in accordance with regulations.
In recent years, especially since 2020, the District Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee of Ba Vi district have focused on directing and promoting the implementation of civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations and festivals; with the attention and leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels; the participation and active response of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, organizations from the district to the grassroots level and all classes of people in implementing the Resolution of the District Party Committee and regulations of the Central Authority and City; the district has contributed to improving the effectiveness of the implementation of the Resolution and civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations.

In particular, celebrating longevity in a civilized way is carried out quite uniformly in the district; communes and towns organize meetings to congratulate and present certificates of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to the elderly who have reached their age milestones at the village cultural house; many communes have regulations on the time to celebrate longevity on 4th or 6th of the first lunar month… without organizing lavish, prolonged parties; creating a joyful, exciting, cozy, and emotional atmosphere in the community, typically Phu Phuong commune.
Civilized funeral organization in the area has also changed positively and gradually become routine, the number of cremation funerals is increasing, reaching 83.3% in 2023, an increase of 30.7% over 2020. The prepation of sumptuous feast to invite guests at funerals has sharply decreased with no backward customs such as: rolling on the road, casting spells…, and the funeral time is not prolonged. In particular, many localities have promoted and mobilized families with deceased people to perform cremation before holding the funeral, typically in Co Do, Phong Van, Phu Dong, Phu Son communes, Lien Minh village (Thuy An commune)…
In weddings, the practices and regulations on implementing civilized weddings have been widely implemented, and the awareness and compliance of officers, party members and people have been increasingly raised. All weddings are carried out in accordance with the Law on Marriage and Family with solemn ceremonies, simple and economical procedures while still ensuring joy and excitement; wedding procedures are simplified, shortening the organization time; cigarettes are not served to guests; the use of alcohol and beer is limited. Since, the whole district has had 7,537 weddings, of which 6,673 weddings implemented civilized lifestyles, reaching 88.5%; during the period of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic, the number of weddings implementing civilized lifestyles reached 96.6%. Organizing weddings in a civilized lifestyle has demonstrated beautiful tradition, contributing to building a civilized lifestyle and a cultural family; Limit the organization of lavish, ostentatious and prolonged weddings, causing waste and expense.
Along with the results achieved during implementation of the Resolution of the District Party Committee and the direction of the Central Party Committee, the City Party Committee on implementing a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals, there are still shortcomings and limitations. In order to continue implementing weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations and festivals in a civilized lifestyle, avoiding cumbersome formalities and waste, on June 13, 2024, the People’s Committee of Ba Vi district coordinated with the Mass Mobilization Committee of Ba Vi District Party Committee to organize a seminar on “Solutions to implement a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations” in the district in 2024. At the conference, the opinions of the participating delegates raised the current situation, advantages, difficulties and shortcomings, limitations, and solutions are proposed to implement weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations according to a new cultural lifestyle in the coming time.
At the Conference, Vice Chairman of Ba Vi District People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Anh proposed that localities in the coming time synchronously deploy solutions: Continue to promote communication and mobilization to implement new cultural lifestyles in weddings, funerals, festivals and longevity celebrations; Provide guidance on supplementing rules and regulations on weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations and strengthening festival management into community conventions in accordance with people’s customs and practices; Develop information and visual propaganda programs; Promote the exemplary pioneering spirit of cadres and party members in this work and mobilize families and people in the residential area to implement together; Replicate typical models throughout the district; Effectively evaluate, promptly praise and reward collectives and individuals with good and creative ways of implementing new cultural lifestyles in weddings, funerals, festivals and longevity celebrations in Ba Vi district.

Currently, the socio-economic situation of the district shows many positive changes, the people’s lives in the district are increasingly improved, the implementation of civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations and festivals in the district is increasingly effective, suitable for the situation in the coming period, contributing to continuing to improve the material and spiritual life of the people and in accordance with the regulations of the Party and the State; The Executive Committee of the District Party Committee has issued Conclusion No. 366-KL/HU dated April 4, 2024 on implementing civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals, longevity celebrations and festivals in the district, with some specific targets such as: 95% of weddings practice civilized lifestyle (striving to organize a tea party wedding model); 95% of funerals practice civilized lifestyle, civilized funerals (cremation before the funeral). 100% of longevity celebrations and festivals in the area are organized in accordance with regulations.
