The author has given hundreds of talks and shares about reading and building a reading culture across 3 regions of the country over the years, and the question that the author receives the most is: “How do children enjoy reading?”, “How can adults reach for books without falling asleep?”. Therefore, author Nguyen Quoc Vuong wrote this book to answer those concerns.
The book “Building a family bookcase” includes 452 pages, clearly stating the role and meaning of reading and family bookcase; how to build, operate as well as basic reading methods, from the design of bookshelves to the selection of books in the family, especially how to read with children to help them enjoy books, how to “cure sleepiness” of adults when they begin the reading habit.
The book also has an appendix introducing 100 titles that should be in the family bookcase and information about some public libraries, private libraries, and family bookcases across the country for readers’ reference.
In the book, the readers will have the opportunity to meet the “fire-lighters” characters who own effective family libraries, helping hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read books. According to author Nguyen Quoc Vuong, the presence of a bookcase and reading culture in the family will help improve the communication environment, creating a solid and deep connection in the family. Building a reading culture in the family will create a cultural environment that has a comprehensive, long-term and continuous impact on all members.
