On 19 April 2022, at 19 Hang Buom, Hanoi Theater Association held a workshop on Capital Theater with cultural industry. The workshop covers 03 contents: Establishing and strengthening mechanisms and policies, promoting human resource development; Strengthening the application of science and technology – developing the cultural industry market; Attracting investment and expanding domestic and international exchanges and cooperation. There were nearly 10 presentations on the development of the cultural industry in the capital and how theaters operate for these fields.
Speaking at the seminar, People’s Artist Tran Quoc Chiem, the Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Literature and Arts Associations said that this is a necessary workshop for the development of literature and art in the capital to meet requirements of the industrialization and modernization era following the guidelines of the Party and State.
Making assessment on the actual situation of the cultural industry for the performing arts industry, People’s Artist Quoc Chiem said that: Performance art has played an important role in social life and acts as a core part of the cultural industry. Theatrical industry development should focus on all three areas: Creation of works, including authors and directors; production industry including works, actors, technology (light, sound, art design…); Business industry, including performance organization, marketing, market development… In Hanoi, the human resources of theaters can be considered a matter of worry. Audience sources also need many sources of access, etc. The performing arts industry is facing many challenges.
Meritorious Artist Nguyen Van Truc, from the perspective of state management, affirmed that: Over the past time, the city has offered many mechanisms and policies on cultural and cultural industry to meet local and foreign needs. However, in order to realize the development of cultural industries, the participation of agencies, organizations and literary and artistic associations shall be required.
People’s Artist Trung Hieu, the Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater said that in order to make the Hanoi theater become a cultural industrial product, the first and most important thing is to respect the cultural nature of the stage…
Concerning the theater industry, Prof. Dr. Tran Tri Trac affirmed that the cultural industry is the combination of science and technology with human creativity in the cultural field; is science and technology that turns culture into goods and connect it with the economy. Concerning investment attraction and expanding domestic and international exchanges and cooperation of the Capital Theater for contributing to the cultural industry, many people think that the Hanoi theater should promote socialization. Investment must be put into plays in terms of contents and technology to meet the entertainment needs of present audience.
The Capital Theater still attracts the audience
At the workshop, theatrical artists and activists also proposed solutions for establishing and strengthening mechanisms and policies… for the capital theater, effectively contributing to the cultural industry.
People’s Artist Quoc Chiem proposed a number of solutions such as: Firstly, there should be a synchronous development between human and infrastructure factors, especially art products; Secondly, it is necessary to rebuild a recruitment mechanism; Thirdly, it is required to build a project to give orders to schools and National Academy of Arts to strengthen human resources….
The workshop is also a forum for affirming again the great role and driving force for the development of the country and the capital of culture in the current period.
