On the morning of 17 March, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ha Noi held a press briefing on the activities of cultural exchange with Japan and the delivery of cherry blossoms in Ha Noi. This was a significant activity in celebration of the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between Viet Nam and Japan, which helped contribute to the cooperative ties in cultural exchange between the two countries in general and Ha Noi and Tokyo in particular.

The cultural exchange activity would be lasting for 2 days on 19 and 20 March, which included displaying 200 trees and 10,000 cherry branches located around the public garden of Ly Thai To Monument, introducing the costumes, arts of flower arrangement, sharing of ideas and understanding of the country of Japan; showing intangible cultures of Ha Noi like: imperial singing, blind street music, Vietnamese popular opera, ancient Vietnamese popular opera; performing traditional musics, martial arts; kylin and dragon dances; showing Japanese animations at Kim dong Cultural Centre; exhibiting a number of photos of cultural heritages of Viet Nam and Japan about cherry blossoms and various typical flower species of Ha Noi. Apart from that, there was a roundtable meeting on investment, tourism between the Japanese and Vietnamese businesses.
At the opening ceremony, at 19.00 hrs on 19 March at the public garden of Ly Thai To Monument, Activities took place including: presenting a token of the cherry tree to Ha Noi city and special art performance by the Japanese famous singers and artiests namely music band Momoiro cloverz, the singer specializing in Anime Mizuki music and female singer Itsuwa Mayumi, and the drum club of the secondary school Sagamihara,.. Upon closing the exhibiting, Ha Noi city would plant 200 cheery trees at Hoa Binh park, North Tu Liem district, Ha Noi city./.
